As great as I think? You're making a lot of assumptions about my position. It doesn't exist only in extremes. He's not nearly as bad as you're making him out to be, and he's come a long way since last year. That is undeniable. We wouldn't have racked up nearly 500yds of offense last week if he hadn't. Seems to me you're just not capable of looking past his struggles in years past.
I haven't seen ONE SINGLE POST on here since Cliff's preseason post about JJ having a huge year claiming he was a great QB. Not one. I would say I don't understand why some here bash him at every opportunity, but sadly, I do understand it fully. Regardless, like it or not, JJ is being played because he's the best chance we have to win the BCSNCG. I your 'feelings' get hurt over it, you'll have to figure out a way to deal with it.
If the stories are true about Gunner Kiel, I wonder what, if any, influence Steve Kragthorpe has been on his decision? When Krags was hired last year everyone wondered if he would have an impact on recruiting big time quarterbacks....wonder if this is our answer?
Here's a video of Mr. Kiel: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fROvC0LfRA]'12 IN QB Gunner Kiel - YouTube[/ame] I counted it up: on exactly half the plays on the reel (17 out of 34), he either rolls out and throws, throws after being flushed from the pocket, or runs, and runs well. Looks to be a passing QB with mobility to me.
You would think that Notre Dame would have the inside tract. No one has mentioned that his father, Blair, was the starting QB for the Irish. I want him even more now. I love bloodlines. It isn't just a coincidence that Kenny Hilliard and Beckham had relatives that were great athletes. I think we had better start recruiting Drew Brees' boys now.
Man I'd love this kid to be a Tiger but now that you've mentioned that, I just can't see it happening. Legacy at Notre Dame, close to home and a coach in Kelly that throws it a lot? It's a long shot. He might just be taking a visit to the #1 team in college football to make sure he's got Kelly's attention. However there is no way to really know how he feels about the ND staff, facilities, etc. Does he feel good at the Notre Dame facilities? Considering he came back for an extensive visit tells me he liked something about his initial visit. Sometimes guys just feel better in a certain place than others. Playing for a team that will be in the national championship hunt for the foreseeable future doesn't hurt either.
I believe it was his uncle who was the ND QB and his brother also is a QB on the Indiana roster. Might have another brother who played college ball.
