The last time ND was relevant none of the current prospects were even born. The best thing about them having their own network is I always know where not to look for the good football games.
Yeah, it's pretty sad that people when bitter about a commitment not going through for their school choose to denigrate the kid they were just coveting.. think anyone would be saying these things at Alabama if he committed there? Or Notre Dame if he chose them? I recall watching Trent Richardson's commitment online live and I was disappointed he didn't select LSU, but I didn't walk away thinking he sucked or was making a huge mistake. He did what he felt was best for him and it is hard to argue with his success. I wish more people took this approach to recruiting in general. I'd love all the best players to come to LSU, but at the end of the day I love the Jacob Hester's, the Tyrann Mathieu's and the Matt Mauck's of the world. They may not be overly pursued or highly touted and sometimes they take circuitous routes to campus, but they make a mark on your program and help build it up even further than where they found it. In the end, this is just football and I hope each kid makes a decision he'll be happy with that benefits him in life long past his playing days and first down markers.
from what i read, the hold up was the kiel family wanted to contact the coaches from the not chosen schools before announcing. a respectful move, imo. it was rumored (and just rumor, so i dont know) that part of that hold up was not being able to get hold of kelly. i guess kelly didnt want to answer the phone. he couldnt handle the truth. much like their fans.
:geaux: Good read. I saw it earlier this morning & posted it in the 2012 Commitments thread. :LSU231:
Agreed. I just think it is over the top that over the Christmas holiday the writer is trying to make a huge deal out of the fact that Gunner Kiel did not make the announcement exactly on Christmas day. Then again, he's probably never missed an appointment, been late for anything, and every action in HIS life happened at the exact time he promised. If his wife were expecting and didn't deliver on the due date, would he divorce her?
I would hope not. The writer probably wouldn't leave the delivery room for even a cup of coffee though, fearing Les Miles might pop his head in however briefly and easily secure a commitment to play football for LSU in 2030 from his just-born child.
