Having a three deep of Mettenberger, Rivers, and Kiel would be absolutely unfair. All three of these guys are NFL type pocket passers (Yes, Kiel can run, but its from the shoulder to the finger tip that will make him a wealthy man one day. I'm pulling for Kiel as much as I was hoping we would get Mettenberger. It couldn't be a better time to be a Tiger. Geaux Tigers:crystal:
Don't forget Jerrard Randall who was a highly touted dual-threat QB that originally signed with Oregon but is a Tiger. He'll get those option reps Les loves to employ.
Rivers has pedigree, but he's shown nothing to indicate that he's in the same class as the other two you mentioned. Also, you left off the most talented prospect in Randall.
Based on past recruits at various schools and what we know about the family. Delay is based on the recruit wannting to leave for a farther destination school then the parents had planned. Longer it plays out the better for the school that's not the choice of the parents.
On one hand I would agree but on the other I believe most feel that LSU is the team he really wants but distance and family are the things that could hurt our chances. SO if in his mind LSU is in the lead and now the family and home feel has more time to make him rethink that. Might not be decided until Monday now. It is harder and harder to leave home as decision time comes is my basic rule of thumb.
No one knows for sure. I think LSU is the one he really wants but family over the holidays can change a lot of feelings. He is a guy where his parents have a lot of pull.
You'd think if they want their boy to have the best shot at a 1st round, multi-million dollar contract, they'd push him at LSU.
Clausen was a 2nd rounder at ND. Brady Quinn was a high draft choice. Like it or not ND has their own network where EVERY game is spotlighted on national television with NBC. Vanderbilt also produced a high first round selection in Jay Cutler. It's not like LSU is the only school that would give him success and a chance at the NFL and the distance and competition here could hurt him. I hope LSU lands him, but I don't think it is accurate to say we give him the best shot at the NFL. Best shot at championships? Hell yeah. NFL? They don't care where you play. They draft good players high.
I agree with Brian it's not like Notre Dame is Indiana or some non football school, I also agree that if you have talent NFL scout will find you look at Big Ben. With that said I would love to have him end up at LSU
