4 basic rules of handling a firearm..

    1) All guns are loaded, always, and should be treated as such at ALL TIMES!
    2) Never point a weapon at anything you don't wish to destroy/kill.
    3) Keep your booger-hook (finger) out of the trigger guard until you've taken aim at your target.
    4) Always be sure of your target (and what's beyond it).

In the case of a Remington rifles that fired as you described, at the very least, rules 1, 2, and 4 were disregarded or overlooked. The gun didn't cycle and put one in the chamber by itself, then lay itself down precariously in the direction of a person.

So no, guns do not kill people. Nice try, though. :D

are you aware that guns are not capable of any activity "on their own"?

So the sniper military video, along with the snipers are lying? Or are you playing the semantics game? Let me rephrase for you since so hell bent on making you feel better about yourself. The Remington 700 has a history of firing without the trigger being touched.

    Feel better.

I had a Remington 700. It kept waking me up asking where the ammo was.

That is not the issue. Some guns are far safer than others from the accidents of everyday use. Guns shouldn't go off if they are dropped.

did the gun load itself as well?

guns dont kill people. people kill people. perhaps one day a person might kill another person by aiming a loaded remington 700 at somebody else, turning off the safety and shaking the table it is on or something. it still isnt a case of a gun killing someone. guns are not sentient beings. your point is stupid.

guns are definitely dangerous and it is definitely more dangerous to own one than to not own one, but i dunno if that means they should be illegal.

all you folks that own guns would be safer if you didnt own them. but like i said, if you like guns and they are fun and you like risk, so be it.

i am not aware that anyone did. the point about remingtons misfiring is a non-point that is not a counterpoint to the gun lobby's "guns dont kill people, people kill people."

the remington issue is between those morons that aim loaded guns at people, chamber a round, turn off the safety, and then accidentally kill them, and the incompetent manufacturers at remington.

or maybe we should sue the actual gun and force him to dig ditches.

    people kill people.
