bull shyt! that is why practice on placement, is important. no weapon is gonna do the job if you cannot hit the broadside of a barn, but even a .22 will do the job if you hit your target properly.

a cop friend told me that the weapon of choice for the israeli assassins that went went after those who did the Munich Massacre was a 22 LR. the reasons being light weight, and the ammo cheap enough to allow for so much practice that they could draw from a heavily concealed position on their body, aim, one head shot, two if needed,at a distance of 15 feet then re-"holster" in a matter of one to 2.5 seconds.

now granted, we are trying to be trained assassins, but that seems to be a pretty good indication that with proper placement, a 22 will work just fine.

i have had a couple of cop friends tell me that other than my .38, my 22 will work just fine. the most important part is having a gun you can handle effectively, not the size. if a gun is "too much gun" control is gonna be an issue, which is where a smaller gun is actually safer and gives you a better chance of taking out the target.

Not if he's still standing, likely. Courts have ruled that carrying extra magazines may constitute "looking for trouble", so never carry a spare.

Be aware that hit men often use .22 shorts because it is a subsonic round with no sonic crack. It can be silenced to sound like a squirrel fart. They shoot at point plank range and empty the gun to be sure. But it has no knockdown power at all.

A .45 or a .357 will knock a man down even if it hits him in the arm.

that i did not know. i carry a spare with the 22 underneath the seat of my truck. i have the spare cause its easier for target practice, so i just keep it with the gun. i wonder if keeping it with the gun, but unloaded, would pass muster?

I agree a .22 will kill anyone with a good head or heart shot. My wife doesn't shoot well enough for me to count on that. That's why I didn't want to trust her safety to a smaller round. A .38 has more knock down power and is much more effective with a poorly placed shot. Someone high on meth and intending on raping my wife would not be put down with a shoulder shot from a .22 where a high shoulder shot with a .38 hollow point would probably knock down the guy and allow her a chance to escape.

Two in the chest, one in the head. If that doesn't drop them, you're doing it wrong.

I thought multiple shots can get you arrested. One shot will always be self defense.
