This one has to sting. This guy was a very good recruiter. Annual Saban churn in full swing. I think they have lost half their defensive staff.

Fuggin Vols are gonna be recruiting machines for the next few if they lock this dude. The argument that Tennessee doesn't recruit Louisiana very well might have a nibble taken from it, hopefully not too much. Vandy will no longer have a chance.

Sad for the gumps, whatever. :)

Looks like Kiffen at least understands what Tenn needs to do to survive. They question will be can they coach the talent they get.

Bama, Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi and the Carolinas will be the ones most hurt by this.

Lance Thompson will try to eat up Alabama. I wish him great luck and success. lol

Looks like Tennessee has a bottomless pit of cash on hand.

The running joke right now is that Tennessee will have monster recruiters but no one to coach them.

Fully agree but with a line up like this we are subject to losing someone for consideration. As long as it hurts bama more then us, I am all for it.

Will be interesting to see where Saban finds all these replacements. Fugger can sell a Yugo at a monster truck rally.

nicely understated, IMO. Thompson was the lead recruiter for:

    Jonathan Atchison LB 6-3 216 4.54 1/16/2009 Atlanta, GA
    D.J. Fluker OL 6-7 350 4.9 1/9/2009 Foley, AL
    Nico Johnson LB 6-3 226 4.58 1/16/2009 Andalusia, AL
    AJ McCarron QB 6-4 189 4.8 1/16/2009 Mobile, AL
    Trent Richardson RB 5-11 210 4.5 1/9/2009 Pensacola, FL
Chance Warmack OL 6-2 329 5.5 Atlanta, GA
    Gerald West DB 5-11 175 4.4 1/9/2009 Mobile, AL

With Orgeron, Kiffen (who was well-known as the recruiting "closer" for Pete Carroll), and now Thompson, it's difficult to see another SEC program (on paper) that is as talented at recruiting as UT. Wow :nope:

Saban always looses assistants, some because he is a jerk and some because he is too demanding for some to handle. However he is always able to replace them as he will in this case. I see this as a semi big gain for Tennessee but not such a big loss for Bama as he will be replaced with another good recruiter. I also don't see him making any impact on Louisiana recruiting.

Thompson was the lead recruiter for south Alabama so I doubt losing him in that area will be that big of a deal.

    Pretty nice staff they have.

Also pretty gay that he named his kid Knox but his wife gets a pass.
