    The numbers that were used in resolving this do not match the decrease in expenditures that occurred after this was brought to light. Hell of a plea bargain going on.

    No accounting was available for years that were to be considered, years directly after the previous visit to the NCAA. When you are on probation you better have your ducks in a row, but in this case....

    When you are on probation it means that the sentence in effect will be magnified if you break the terms of the agreement, not that you will get standard treatment for future transgression. You already had one chance.

    But to answer your question: "Do you really think that selling a textbook gave them an advantage in the game?" If there were no benefit derived from providing undocumented extra funds to players would the practice be against NCAA rules and regulations? If I know that school "a" might keep me in spending money it could influence where I sign or if I could afford to stay in school. So yes, I do believe it can affect on the field performance.
