sorry, i was talking out loud to hawaiian recruits - i was looking at their top recruits. but you cali people got some weird ones too. louisiana is normal before ya open ya piehole.
Not that it has anything to do with how this went down, but last night I was listening to the Auburn Sports Information guy on Memphis Sports Talk and he was excited about the Benton signing, but said “now if we can just get him qualified”. He said it was something about Benton needing some classes. What is all that about? I thought it was just a clearing house deal at this point. He also talked about Auburn’s lack of skill players – not just depth, but lack of players. The talking heads on the same show also mentioned that Ole Miss and Arkansas would have several non-qualifiers who would be in JUCO or prep school next fall.
I don't think Randal's dad will tell Les who to start, or when. If the kid wants to transfer, let him go. If you're the head coach, you gotta run the show. See: where Ryan Perrilloux is today... As far as Benton, there may be more to the story, it may or may not come out. It is what it is; I'm sorry to not have the guy after wanting to see him play for the last two years and hearing how talented he is. I'm not gonna waste much time on this, and NO sleep. I'm gonna love this class and hope each kid develops and helps  contend for the West, and the SEC. I've seen two more nat. championships since the one when I was a kid in 58. That's icing on the cake. I want to win the SEC west, and the SEC.
Me too. But I do not regret Les choosing a qualified recruit over one that has failed to qualify twice already and hasn't qualified for this year either. Les didn't want to have to choose, but his choice was a no brainer. This kind of thing happens all the time in college football.
while i've echoed that sentiment i do agree with tirk and others that it rarely happens in the 11th hour. that said, if the above post is true about him still not being qualified then this entire thread may be moot (not mute). i tend to look at the results. did we stop this guy from receiving a scholarship and end his football career? no, we just directed him to a school that he was flirting with anyway. i wonder how people would feel if DB is not qualified at AU.
If he is not qualified.....Great! If he is, and everyone was saying that he was, this sets a very bad precedent for future recruits. If you are top recruit coming to LSU, you can put a stop to anyone else coming in at your position. Horrible if true.
i am still curious as to whether or not the class he (according to clair) lied about to clm has any effect of his eligibility?
