they already call him stupid and you don't want to play at LSU b/c of (insert your insult here).

this won't be the first strike against miles and frankly those other coaches probably have more dirt on themselves.

there are no victims without sin in this situation.

miles kept the biggest recruit in the state and lost the second biggest the day after in karmic fashion.

does everyone think the JJ situation was on the level?? of course not, why? cuz recruiting in general whether at LSU or tenn is an nasty task.

and pointing it out as the dude has by comparing it to politics while crappy does not make it any less true.

you win some you lose some.

Incorrect and you need to reread my posts. I do think Randle's father was the catalyst for this, and it was echoed in an interview with Randle immediately after he committed. That notwithstanding, Miles is the one who made this call, not Randle or his father. The fundamental disagreement is that you are rationalizing Miles doing this to Benton, because you prefer Randle.

I am not a hypocrite because I understand what a dirty business it is. I might not like it when the shoe is on the other foot but neither do I jump on a soapbox to loudly proclaim the virtues of my team, or coach, over another's.

If Miles had forsaken RR in order to "do the right thing", he would be getting a lot more heat today than he is over this. If he had, I would likely be defending him, but neither am I going to condemn him for trying to save his jobs and those of his assistants by doing what it takes to win.

The kitchen is hot and Les can stand the heat, but a lot of you who are indignant are being a tad spurious in my mind.

lets pretend for a minute it was your kid. thats the only way I will look at it because the kid's life is on the line career-wise. les is already a millionaire who is showered with character/integrity virtues and rightfully so. this was a blip on les' and lsu's radar but a kid's life size blip.

and not trying to be indignant at all. id prefer LSU have randle as well but Im keeping my own needs out of it.

id expect your word would be worth more than one recruit. even if miles had kept benton, its likely we get both anyway but thats besides the point now.

the entire, LSU is bigger than one recruit mantra can now be stored away as fodder.

no i agree with you that i prefer RR over benton and what miles did was crappy and that i am rationalizing it. just as others would have to rationalize miles choosing the other path.

it was miles' call absolutely but I think he made the best decision in terms of bringing the better/safer player into the program.

but the position that miles was put in to make the decision itself was a direct result of the RR camp. without that we're not talking about this. he was going to upset people either way.

what i am saying is that if miles chooses the other path, his perception among the fans (most of) would never recover. ever. especially if RR goes to bama.

i honestly believe he would start to lose the fan base and would have little wiggle room on W-L's next year.

it would literally be the beginning of the end for him.

you might be thinking that him making the decision the way it went down is the beginning of the end for him.

    we will see.
