...during the miles speech at the bash. He asked if Benton had a scholly offer as of this morning. miles was reluctant then said no he did not. said that each player is judged on their individual recruitment or whatever. after 3 years les had a sudden change of heart? coughbscough im really disappointed in Les rescinding this offer, folks. thats bush-league right there.
Hey it sucks. I hate to see the recruit having this kinda power as anyone. But in the end, risk vs reward. 1-2 vs 3-4 years, is he even qualified? After RP and the result this season I can't compain; not like we cut him loose 2 years ago. Blame should be on RR's dad, if randle doesn't live up to the hype after his antics they will be run out of the state.
In truth most and probably all of us will never know all the facts. But I still trust CLM and staff to make the right decisions for LSU. Who knows, if it became apparent the coaches that the choice was either (a) Benton for maybe one year or two at most; or (b) RR for at least three years – there really would be no choice, you go with RR. I would have loved to have had Benton, but in any either or situation, I’ll go with RR. ldskule:
a man's word is his word. and yes we do know enough to know what went down. its bad business/karma. we blast other coaches for it; lets not be hypocrites.
Bottom line is he is gone... there will be somebody just as good in next years class ... I would have thought there would have been room for both of them next year but nothings simple in the real world...
Just yesterday I was reading about Benton saying how wonderful LSU was and how proud he was that he was going to be an LSU Tiger. I'm very glad we got Randle and I have no idea what really happened. But if signing Randle is the reason we told this young man that we didn't want him anymore, well, I have a problem with that.
this happens to players all the time. they want to come to LSU but we choose someone else over them for some reason (academics, depth chart etc.) not to be too harsh but dude coulda qualified either of the two previous years and been a tiger. after all, he's going to an SEC school and will get an education for free not still paying off loans 10 years later like normal people.
he had a commited offer up until RR's dad made that ultimatum. we should have honored his commitment regardless.
Well this kinda stuff rarely just goes away. I will not say a bad word about him if Benton ends up dancing on the eye after whoopin our ass in TS. Miles deserves for that to happen now.
