Because if you played sports you know that coaches don't like kids who think they deserve something they don't and dog it, and half ass it in practice (except coaches children) that's what I saw from Harris in warm ups. All 4 other QB's were hustling, and Harris was loafing. I don't think Anthony Jennings is a good SEC qb. I think he is average or below. At this point in his career I think Brandon Harris is the same. Average or below. If it were me, based on everything I've seen, Harris would on the same place, sideline. I don't have faith in the fact that Jennings by his senior year will be any better than the qb we watched in red last night, and I feel the same way about Harris. I don't like running qb's in this offense, because running is 90 percent of their game. Take away their ability to run and they aren't even on the team as quarterbacks. You take a drop back passers ability to run and still have a weapon at the position. This dual threat bullshit is garbage. That's my take. But that's what we have and at this very moment, Anthony Jennings is the better qb. I doubt that will be the case next season, I think Harris will be our better "average"or "below average" qb because his "average" will be better than Jennings "average". This dual threat qb should be a backup on this offense. The starter should be a dropback passer especially w this offense.
of course i know that coaches hate kids who dog it. that was my entire point. i dont care At THIS POINT. Put in rickey jefferson just for shits and giggles.
Go back and read what I said about why I don't like the dual threat qb, regardless of who it is and you will see why I prefer Jennings over Harris at this point, and Harris' future. That should explain my theorized love for 10.
Regarding Harris, I posted this on another thread (Good, Bad, & Ugly -- Bama). A telling message that he tweeted out last week. He acknowledges, in not so many words, that he is not ready for prime time. https://twitter.com/bharrisqb1/status/529831333544333313
Don't get carried away. Quinn had a couple of bad catches but one was thrown behind him. But I can't question his toughness. I see him taking hits, I see him blocking downfield. I see him getting open a lot and Jennings can't find him.
We might also be 3-7 instead of 7-3. And that strange man that likes to talk about sniffing jocks might have a coronary.
Looks like he's worried to take hit over the middle when the ball is thrown his way. Use Diarse in the slot and let Quinn line up wide.
I can't rag on the defense. Overall it was a damn fine defensive game. Bama did not run over our defensive line. We held them to a shit-load of three-and-outs. They just had the kind of passing attack on that 47-second drill that we do not. Good field position and they only needed to reach field goal range. This was a damn close game.
Basically we a proven average quarterback and an unproven average quarterback. But I do not think that they cannot improve. True dual-threat quarterbacks are very rare. So are effective drop-back passers, for that matter. No matter what their style a quarterback must be able to throw the football. Running quarterbacks are useless in a league like the SEC.
Nor I. I can understand the Chief going to the prevent D, but when it wasn't preventing, why didn't he change? Or did the Bama O coaching staff just call and the players execute the right plays? I suspect the latter.
