It's not about butts in the seats, it's all about money. As long as the tickets sell, the administration could care less who shows or doesn't.
No wins, no Gameday here, no primetime CBS games, no money from these sources. The networks don't want to show blowouts. Empty seats look bad on TV
And just how much additional revenue did LSU get when Gameday was in Baton Rouge or our game was shown on CBS in primetime?
I don't know but its probably enough to want to keep. Especially for a Gameday ESPN has to bring a crew as well as the announcers and other on air guests for the show. They stay in hotels, rent cars, eat, ect. Not all revenue directly to LSU but its good for the economy of Baton Rouge.
If LSU is losing those seats will be empty at kickoff too. The "pageantry and atmosphere of college football" that they like to promote won't be there. Lose to Florida, maybe Kentucky and Ole Miss and the Alabama game will be on the SEC Network instead of primetime on CBS
I agree, if they continue to lose and can't sell tickets they will make changes. But that won't happen with one bad season.
