Im sure most of us has seen at least some of the combine, but did you see Olsen, TE from Miami, run the 40. He ran a 4.45! That's unbelievable. I think he and Zach Miller are the two best te coming out. It would be awesome if the Saints could land Olsen. With having every defense the Saints play keying in on RB, could you imagine what Payton could do with a TE that can catch and run a 4.45. It would be flat-out scary. I know we probably won't get him, but it would be nice.
He is a good TE who suffered at Da U from bad QB play. He's not NEARLY at Sergeant Winslow's level (or Shockey for that matter) but should be a good NFL TE. There are some questions about his blocking ability, but teams are developing offensive schemes to lessen the blocking requirements for athletic TE/H-back players (e.g. Dallas Clark, Cooley.)
According to "the experts," this is the worst Tight End Draft in a lot of years. They said Miller would be a 3rd to 4th round guy most years. Which is reasonable, considering Joe Thomas the OT from Wisconsin beat Miller's 4.95 40.
I would much rather see us go defensive early. I don't think we will get a TE worth a pick in the mid rounds. Looks like we may have to wait till next year.
We will go defensive first and I have read reports that the Saints are interested in Jonny Harline out of BYU (6'4, 255). Some of the mock drafts have us taking him at the end of the 1st day or the 2nd day if he falls that far. He is rated arounf the 5th best TE in draft.:thumb:
Miller ran a 4.83 and 4.85. Sure, Thomas wasn't far behind, but he still didn't beat him. Regardless, Miller will probably fall out of the first round for that.
He must have "unofficially" run a 4.95 40 because they were making fun of him for getting beat by Thomas. Maybe he did it somewhere else.
