I absolutely love this, though the coverage has been a bit over the top. I remember back in the day when there was one Draft Guide, and almost no coverage.

So, without further ado, here's the NLMD mock draft. I did it a few days ago, so it might be a bit stale already. :hihi:

    1. Raiders -- Jamarcus Russell -- they've passed on too many QBs, and the 2nd round QBs aren't very good. I'm sticking with this pick, as I can't see Al Davis picking otherwise.

    2. Lions -- Joe Thomas -- Enough of this junk about Gaines Adams and another WR. The Lions have personified ineptitude in the draft, and can develop this guy behind Backus. They can get skill players and DEs later. He's almost a hometown pick too. I think this is the right pick, so Millen will probably draft Troy Smith.

    3. Browns -- Adrian Peterson -- This pick makes me want to cry. Charlie Frye isn't THAT bad, and Crennel doesn't have time to groom a young QB. There aren't enough footballs for Braylon Edwards and Sgt. Winslow AND Calvin Johnson. That leaves my boy AD.

    4. Bucs -- Calvin Johnson -- Duh.

    5. Cards -- Gaines Adams -- they need OL, but it would be nice if they could hold a team under 100 points sometimes.

    6. Skins -- Omobi Okoye -- I'm surprised more folks don't see this as a mortal lock. Maybe it makes too much sense. They need D-line and pass rush. He's the best pass rushing D-lineman not named Dorsey and not in the NFL. Landry could be an option, though he and my boy Sean Taylor would combine for at least 60 yards in roughing penalties, which would cancel out the combined yardage of Lloyd, Randle El, and Chris Cooley each game.

    7. Vikings -- Laron Landry -- Sure, Quinn is tempting, but dumping Tarvaris Jackson after one year, when you have 5 or 6 holes doesn't make much sense. The Vikings may be drafting Landry solely so he can crush Favre and end his career already.

    8. Falcons -- Adam Carriker, DE, Nebraska -- They are officially bent at this point. They wanted Laron or Okoye, this is too high for Levi Jones, and they need better d-line/LB help immediately. Too high for a WR and Petrino probably figures he can scheme on offense.

    9. Fins -- Bradie Quinn -- Fins Management rejoices another horrible decision, and NLMD burns his Fins gear.

    10. Texans -- Levi Brown, OT, PSU -- They will try vigorously to trade down, even if just a couple of picks. Barring that, I don't see Leon Hall here, and nobody else really sticks out. Patrick Willis has the talent to be here, but it would become an Urlacher/Briggs situation down the road cap-wise. Of course, the critics never notice their moves on o-line so they'll still blame the o-line for any troubles with the offense. Carr considers saying a stern word to his lawnmower upon seeing this pick, but then realizes he doesn't care one bit about football.

NOTE: I no longer think this pick is right, but my head will explode if I have to redo this draft.

    11. Niners -- Patrick Willis, LB, Ole Miss -- Bent that the Falcons took their guy so damned high. Mike Nolan calls Jim Mora Jr and curses him out. Mora Jr. misses being the coach, so he doesn't say anything about it. Willis is simply the best available, nothing more, nothing less.

    12. Bills -- Leon Hall, CB, Mich -- They're infuriated that Willis is going to the Niners. Marv Levy calls Bill Walsh to tell him that and is thoroughly confused by an answering machine. They start the run on CBs.

    13. Rams -- Darrelle Revis, CB, Pitt -- Here come the CBs off the board, with Revis added to a team with one good secondary guy (that midget from Clemson last year Hill or Dye or something.)

    14. Carolina -- Reggie Nelson, S, FL -- This is the toughest team to project. They need a LB, and some help on offense, but Nelson can help in too many ways. Another lineman is tempting since Carr won't report to camp if he thinks they'll play less than 7 offensive lineman.

    15. Steelers -- Jamaal Anderson, DE, Ark -- Can play 3-4 or 4-3, and they can't believe he dropped to them. He and the Pineapple will probably kill a QB at some point.

    16. Green Bay -- Robert Meachem, WR, TN -- I dunno...this is almost a who cares pick anyway.

    17. Jaguars -- Lawrence Timmons, LB, FSU -- They need versatile help on defense. Their Al Davis-like GM will have a hard time passing up Mr. Speed to pair with Mr. Speed No Routes (Jones) and the hyphenated little ball of speed hate Jones-Drew-Emmanuel-Lewis.

    18. Bengals -- The Poz, LB, PSU -- I doubt they'll draft this choir boy, but they'd be fools to pass him up. They'll probably pick Eric Wright, hoping he can break some more laws.

    19. Titans -- Ted Ginn Jr. OSU -- Idiotic pick, in MD's opinion, but they'll be blinded by the pub of having Ginn and Radio on the field for a game or two before both get hurt. unlike Ginn, Eric Wright would fill three slots on the team, though lendale white will still occupy 5 slots in the backfield.

    20. Giants -- Marshawn Lynch, Cal -- I have no idea, but he seems like a good fit to replace Barber. Doesn't really matter since they won't do anything until Eli retires.

    21. Broncos -- Brandon Meriweather, S, Da U -- They're reaching for need, but Meriweather can cover better than some corners in this draft.

    22. Cowboys -- Dwayne Bowe -- Like a new non-crazy TO. Fast enough, great hands, yet drops about 1/4 of passes, and can be a fierce blocker. Should be good for 12 TDs a year.

    23. Chiefs -- Joe Staley, OT, CMU -- They simply can't believe all the WRs are gone. Just like their roster. Their o-line left too, so they get great value here.

    24. Pats -- Alan Branch, Mich -- They can't believe he's still here. These a-holes inexplicably end up with a top 10 player, as usual. And thus begins the usual Pats rotation of 19 d-lineman throughout any one game.

    25. Jets -- Jarvis Moss, FL -- Lock it in if he's here.

    26. Eagles -- Aaron Ross, CB, Texas -- Why not? They've got great scouts so they should see Houston is overrated, and Ross is pretty versatile (though field speed ain't like his track time.) Lucky for them, there aren't really burner type WRs in this division, so he can cover most of the guys.

    27. Saints -- Justin Harrell, DT, Tenn -- Too much upside for a porous interior line. No good value in secondary left, as the scouts wisely said something like, "Hey, Houston has stiff hips and teams ran against Arkansas because McFaddenJones."

    28. Pats -- Jon Beason -- LB, Da U -- These a-holes stick it to me again by taking a guy from Da U.

    29. Ravens -- Anthony Spencer -- DE, Purdue -- Continuing their quest to kill every QB they face, while also scoring less than 2 points a game.

    30. Chargers -- Sidney Rice, WR, USC -- The leap into the first, as they know he won't be there in the 2nd. Complete WR to complement the current WRs, though no one is entirely sure who they are.

    31. Bears -- Greg Olsen, TE, Da U -- Looking for anybody to run 5 yard in-routes (aka David Carr routes). Considered all 25 remaining QBs on the board.

    32. Colts -- Tank Tyler, DT, NC State -- D-line is a pop tart other than Booger playing better. Good to get young here. Could go CB, but will look for better value later.

I think the Saints will trade down to get a solid #2 receiver in a trade with someone and still get the player they want 8-10 spots lower (early 2nd round).

Would be a wise move, though such trades can be impossibly difficult to execute. Unless, of course, you're Charlie Casserly and you give away a 2, 3, AND 4 to move back into the first round to take Jason Freaking Babin.

I really wish there was some way the Saints could trade up and get Patrick Willis. The Saints need DB help still but at least they have upgraded there. The Saints need a good LB in the first three rounds.

Willis is the best LB in the draft. He should be an immediate impact type player along the lines of Demeco Ryans, less the rookie of the year award. When the senior bowl was being played I think we had some derogatory comments about Willis but I think they were plain wrong. His draft stock sure didnt plummet.

Lions take Johnson. Bucs take Adams. They make a trade, ala Manning/Rivers trade.

No way Cleveland passes on Quinn, do they?

Saints ... please, please get some LBs and DBs in this draft!

According to ESPN, Russell's people confirmed he's going #1.

My buddy and I were talking about this last night and just laughing. When those early, early mocks came out, Willis was in the late 20's. We laughed then, because the guy is such a stud, and was sure to rise. Now I've seen him inching up to the top 10, though I think he goes 11 or 12.

He can be scary good. As great as Demeco Ryans is, Willis was a significantly better college player, IMO. If he puts in his work, he'll be a perennial pro bowl player.

Oh no...it looks like NLMD was right. I hope NLMD is wrong on the assessment of Quinn though. Hell, I can't even remember to not spell his name like a former LSU linebacker.

The guy was the reason Ole Miss almost beat us last year. IMO he is probably more of an impact player than Laron.
