Was this a great weekend to be a sports fan or what? LSU baseball, the NFL draft, the fight in Vegas, great game 7 Clippers and Spurs, MLB, the NHL playoffs if you're a hockey fan and to top it all off, Dale Earnhardt Jr. wins today at Talledega. EDIT: I left out that the New Orleans Voodoo won 66-63 on a last second field goal. As Mike from Plaquemine used to say: "Lets talk about that Voodoo defense, Jimmy."
Wasn't there a horse race this weekend? Oh, and the NCAA Women's Sand Volleyball Championships were this weekend in Gulf Shores. AND, LSU Softball just beat Auburn and prevented them from winning the regular season SEC title.
I forgot to include the Derby. I didn't know anything about the Sand Volleyball. LSU softball was rolling until last weekend against Missouri and they went into a slump. Preventing Auburn from winning the SEC is small consolation for not winning it themselves. Kind of like a moral victory.
I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand its cheating to gain an advantage. On the ity hand everbody else was doing it too. Sort of like everbody in NASCAR bends the rules. You can't believe that Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Darrell Waltrip, ect. didn't use every trick in the book. Some players like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens had HOF stats before they started using peds. Others, like Sammy Sosa and Rafael Palmero would never have hit all those home runs without them. And it was part of an era. The fans knew players were juiced bit people like seeing the long ball. For me, baseball was more fun to watch then. I loved it in 1998 when Mark McGuire and Sosa were crushing monstrous home runs almost every day.
I think they should be voted on their work product. There are more than a few in it who used speed and other drugs to enhance their performance. In a similar vein Gaylord Perry and other pitchers got in using a spitball an illegal pitch. It's impossible to differentiate what those who did it before testing did so all records are suspect.
Babe Ruth was a fat tub of goo who stuffed hot dogs in his mouth and washed them down with gallons of beer.
Yes he was and often drunk. He used PRDs (performance reducing drugs) so is probably the greatest ever.
