Couple of points. Although I have cheered athletes and coaches for my team even when I didn’t like them, it is a whole lot funner and adds a whole new dimension to the enjoyment when I do like them. (If Saban were still coach, I would certainly still “pull” for LSU, but it is certainly more enjoyable having O for head coach.) If Baker Mayfield were the QB for “my” team, I would certainly want him to be successful, but, all of the time I was doing so, I would also know that he is an egotistical and immature prick. After listening to Burrow’s most heartfelt speech last night, I knew that this is a good kid, someone whom I could not only cheer his success but enjoy doing so wholeheartedly. I was especially moved by his comments about the poverty in southeast Ohio and his inferring that he realized that he had breaks that so many of his peers did not enjoy. He did so in exactly the right way; not pontificating but acknowledging that he was fortunate to be brought up in the circumstances in which he was. All in all, it appears that Burrow is the self-confident, even cocky, guy that you want leading your team on the field and the mature, disciplined young man that you want leading it off the field. My hats off to him and the parents that raised him.
Yep the Coach O moment made every Tiger fan swell with pride. That was quite a Heisman speech moment.
Great speech? Holy flying fuck . AWESOME speech. You know how many recruits’ moms last night watched that split screen while Jeaux thanked Coach O and decided their baby boy was coming to LSU??? The only thing missing was fucking violin music and Jeaux going full Tom Cruise saying ‘You complete me’ That was C L A S S I C
I had just found out my woman ran off and left me and my dog died too, I was only crying cause I had the blues.
