That said, LSU should not feel they earned this one fully. That triple turned single was HUGE. Who knows what momentum that stopped / could have started?

All in all, I have to say that LSU has the bats to win the whole thing, but the pitching has to pick it up. So does ours.

Good luck to both the clubs from here on out.

Bad calls happen. Who is to say Ranaudo wouldn't go ahead and strike out the next three guys? It is baseball. LSU earned the win as much as Virginia earned the loss. Remember, Virginia had ALL the momentum in the 5th and Ochinko changed that with one swing.

The strike zone did change each inning for each team, but umps do not change 4 run games. LSU might have scored even more against your RHP in the 9th given the chance.

I felt bad about that missed call on the triple. Not only because it was a missed call but if the game came down to one run, I knew we'd never hear the end of it...All in all, it was a scrappy game. Starting pitching struggled badly for both teams. Ranaudo didn't have control on his pitches. We pounded out a lot of hits and some timely home runs with men on. It was an intense game for sure. Def do not wanna see UVA again

The missed call was a bad break, but that was only one runner of like fourteen or so you guys had stranded by clutch LSU defense. What a game though. I'm sure the LSU players left with a lot of respect for the Hoos.

Thanks for posting after a tough loss.

    But...

If LSU "outplayed" your boys, then why shouldn't they feel they've earned it?

Virginia has some great bats. Pitching on both sides wasn't up to expectations.

clutch, timely hitting, lights-out defense and great pitching down the stretch did us in.

i agree with the schm that we were jobbed on several calls, but disagree bigtime that somehow that means LSU didn't "fully" earn the win. 2 evenly matched teams but you made the plays at the right times to beat us. even if we had every one of those questionable calls go our way, we still would've lost.

still, i think we take the next one if we meet again... we'll see.

It was a great game. I was pulling my hat off and putting it back on nervously all night. Looking forward to Monday.
