I sort of think this guy has a handle on what has been going on.:geaux: TigerRag - GAMEDAY FAN BLOG: Facing the fear?.
Interesting article, and one man's point of view. I enjoyed the read, and there are probably a few nuggets of truth in there. I think there are other points of view. Another point of view is not that Crowton is scared and holding JJ back, but maybe he sees what JJ is capable of right now, and is not asking him to do more than he can execute.
well i think that JJ can handle a whole helluva lot more than what we are seeing from the playbook. the few times we went to the middle to dickson were big plays.
exactly. and i think that jefferson ought to be able to run that playbook from last season better than lee did. it seems to me that crowton is afraid of another pick-6 clinic. we;ll see.
I think Crowton is very cautious with a young quarterback as a result of last year, but I doubt that fear of the pick six is much of a factor with him. He ain't a spring chicken, he's faced adversity before, and he's not inflexible. It is probably correct that he overtasked Lee last year and it is only smart to not repeat that mistake.
I agree with the author of that article. How can a 4-0 team ranked #4 in the country also be rated #105 in offense with all of the talent LSU has on offense? The answer: Gary Crowton. In fact, of the top 5 teams, we are the only team not ranked in the top 20 in total offense at #105. Oregonians warned us that this is what would happen. I do think he has the knowledge and ability to formulate a great offense, just don't think he makes good in-game decisions consistently. Hopefully, his knowledge and capabilities are unleashed today. I certainly want him and LSU to succeed, just don't have a lot of confidence in him.
well i wouldn't go quite that far since we had a very nice offense in 2007 (even in 2008.) but, i do agree with the fact that LSU needs to play MUCH better on offense. MUCH, MUCH better.
