This is a good article on the pitching coach's philosophy for those who are wondering. :thumb: http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/38843532.html
today was the 1st day they practiced. I got to go myself -- it's beautiful. Some notes: 1. the infield grass is an inch thick now -- used to be 5/8 inch. The ground balls are way slow. 2. The fences are 10 feet now instead of 8. 3. More foul ground around the dugouts. 4. The batter eye-drop used to be trees, etc... now they are staring straight at Tiger Stadium, which they say makes it a pitcher's park, because of the white-on-white.
today was the 1st day a ball was hit in the stadium. all the bleachers are finished except the ones in left. the ones down the third-base line are finished, but aren't "useable" yet, because there are no railing, etc.. The scoreboard will be up by the end of the week. The parking lots will get their final layers tomorrow. Stadium looks a lot like Zephyr Stadium when you're in it.
i was told they were hitting today, just guessed on how long. guess that makes sense. :thumb: nice park. thanks for the updates.
Thanks for that, man! It does look like Zephyr... maybe that's a good thing, I don't know? Anyhow, it looks nice in picture. I'm sure it will be beautiful when it's filled with a raucous P&G crowd! :geauxtige
Have they been announced? If so, I apologize for missing it, this week has been one from HELL! (Thank you Nicholls State, who should be known as Incompetent U!) Anyhow, this is what I think I know... :yelwink2: Ace - Louis Coleman. I think this dude will just have a stellar season, he seems to have bought into CDG's system already. Your closer is supposed to be your best pitcher, LC is one of the nation's best. Relief - Paul Bertucicini showed some poise last season in relief, I look for him to continue that trend. Also Jordan Nicholson is going to be fun to watch. This guy work extremely quick with his pitches and has great control. Could really bring stability in a sticky situation depending on his confidence level. Got some work in the post season (like a lot of LSU's pitchers) and I think that will really help them out! Weekend starters - Austin Ross, Daniel Bradshaw, Anthony Ranaudo. But Ryan Bird could get some weekend rotation too. We also have some TALENTED frosh who could work their way up. Shane Riedie is projected to be pretty good. They also have this kid named Spencer Matthews who threw a frickin' incredible game in the high school playoffs one year. A no-hitter if I remember correctly. Also, Nolan Cain, Ben Alsup, Chris Matulis (promising southpaw,) and Randy Zeigler could all make a splash in mid-week games. I think we're not too deep in the rotation (especially in relief,) but the guys we do have are pretty good. I'd argue that the starting pitching is probably as good as any in the SEC. :tigbas:
