It was the student section, and why the hell not? Football is a game and is supposed to be fun. Those kids looked like they were having a lot of fun and will remember last night for the rest of their lives.
I at first thought "why storm the field?" but then thought it would do the whine and cheese crowd some good to be joyful and just have some frickin' fun! y'all do remember fun, don't you?
I tell it like I see it. I don't have to find a scapegoat and vilify him . . . especially for winning the game.
First part I would agree. Second part, technicality. Run game and smothering D is what implicitly won that game.
I get what you're saying about it is fun and something the kids will remember for the rest of their lives. It was a great, emotional win for LSU. The emotion takes over. I guess I just feel LSU should be above that with where we are as a program.
And I suppose that the idea of "where LSU is as a program" has been part of the problem in recent years with Tiger Stadium crowds (leaving early, booing our coaches/players, and other assorted bullshit.) Last night, I am certain, without being there, that the Tiger Stadium crowd was a Tiger Stadium crowd of old. The crowd was so brutal that they completely got into Bo Wallace's Justin Beiber wannabe head to the point that he lost his shit several times. The crowd was so into the game that it was an absolute no-brainer that we were going for it on 4 and 1 in the 4th quarter, as cheers of "Go! Go! Go!" rang out from every corner of the stadium, and go we did. We need to bring it just as intensely in two weeks against Bama, and if the students rush the field again, bravo. Passion has been sorely missing from Tiger Stadium for too long.
I did enjoy the rowdyness of the crowd. They were into the game like you mentioned, like in years past. Last night Tiger Stadium was Death Valley! As CLM so eloquently said, "A place where opponents dreams come to die." That is LSU football. That is how a LSU crowd should always be. No booing and leaving early. If so, let the real fans get those tickets. We certainly need to bring that kind of passion to every game. Well said, StaceyO. I give up, you win. I can't argue that.
