Completely agree with this, but at this point we have trouble getting snaps for all the RBs we have already. He should be used like Bush/Sproles are used in the Saints offense or similar to Harvin at UF. Less typical WR routes and more underneath, screens, and passes to the flats. Get him the ball in space.
No his best play was that medium range pass he snatched out of the air going up really high to get it. Every pass that was thrown to him was poorly thrown by Lee. Lee has to get his accuracy improved, he looked just like he did vs Oregon. He did have 1 or 2 legit drops, the rest were overthrown balls that the receivers could not come down with. Not a drop, but a great receiver probably catches it. We don't have great receivers. I did like end around run, however. Hopefully we can see more successful plays run with Shepard in that manner.
I was thinking more of using him as a third-down back or taking out the fullback and running two halfbacks. He can still slide over to the slot and go downfield.
Didn't see the game, but I totally don't get bringing JL in on a 3rd and 7, if thats what happened. JJ can pass. I prefer giving a single QB an entire series, unless the coaches have an excellent rationale to mix it up during a series. JL deserves the lion's share of the minutes.
Exactly, his talent has been wasted and he is taking the spot of a young WR that may actually develop into a quality WR. There are too many examples of how to use a player with his abilities to still be missing the boat after 3 years. I find it hard to believe that the offensive coaching staff can't come up with a few safe plays that get the ball in the hands of the speedy play makers available. Screen passes aren't a new invention, they should have some film on that.
I don't think they wanted JJ to pass the ball at all. With the stupid booing that went on, can you imagine an incomplete pass on that 3rd and 7? Great job, Les Miles. You handled the situation perfectly.
I agree, in principle. Only we never know what deception Les is setting up. By bringing in Jefferson to run the quarterback sneak, it may put future opponents into the mindset that Lee can't run the sneak, setting that surprise up for the future. Likewise, if Jefferson has a reputation as a running quarterback, Les can use his passes sparingly until he can spring a surprise when it is important.
Dang you're easy to please! So falling into the endzone from the 1 and running 4 times, albeit for 29 yards, bumps up the grade an entire letter?? QB play was still a "C-", IMO along with the WR's. The plays were there to be made so execution on both ends was poor. However, the good plays they DID make in the passing game, coupled by another turnover free day, warrants praise.
