I agree wholeheartedly with these rankings...every single one of em. OL was spectacular today. Don't know what game anyone was watching that disagrees. ST was good, not great. The wind greatly affected the kicks half the game, but the blocked punt, the FG deal, and the lining up wrong on the kickoff are 3 things that come to mind. 450 yds of offense against UF, an almost perfect QB performance by Lee/JJ, no drops, (although I thought Wright could've caught that one in the end zone...it would've been a great catch), ran the ball down their throats, pretty creative playcalling, opened it up when we needed to, etc...
I actually think we're playing within the confines of what we need to do based on the situation. I think they wanted to jump out early and practice the running game, after the lackluster running performance against KY. So they throw the ball deep to RR early, then settle into what they wanna do. UF scored that TD later, and Les put the foot back on the gas. Boom, long pass to RR, jump pass from JJ, ball game. Let's salt it away by cramming Blue and Ware down their throats to end it. I really believe Miles just wants to do enough...and maybe today, wanted to rub a little salt in it remembering 2008 when WE had the young inexperienced QBs and chitty defense. Payback's a bitch.
Great point here, didn't really think about this angle. And as someone else said, it's too bad Urban Phuckhead wasn't on the sidelines.
I figured the score would be something like 21-10 or 24-13. I didn't take into account the 30 point arse whoopin they handed us in 2008. I've noticed over the last couple years Miles doesn't seem to have a want to embarass an SEC team. Yeah, he'll beat the frick outta some bowl opponent, faking punts against GT in the Peach, etc...running it up against a non conference opponent like VT, UO, WVA, etc...but hardly ever against an SEC team. Yeah, 45-0 against MSU in 2007, but damn...they threw 42 INTS. Steltz had at least 12 that game IIRC. But like last week against KY. You and I both know LSU could beat KY 72-0 if they wanted to. I think we could've easily hung fitty on UF today. He just doesn't seem to want to embarass an opponent we have to face every year or every few years.
yep, fish, and that makes sense the man knows what he is doing we may never quite see it clearly ourselves, but every move he makes has ramifications involved and are very carefully planned out.
Not to disagree with any of the gradings, which are basically fair and accurate, it's just that in my opinion, the conservative play calling in the early 2nd half is called intentionally by CLM so as to hold back some critical pieces of playbook until facing BAMA. Excellent grading, again!
Yeah .. that was a hard pass to make. Lee had to place it far enough out in front where the defender couldn't touch it, but close enough that the receiver could. That kind of pass comes down to a matter of "inches" in placement. I just think it's great that CLM is showing the confidence in Lee to make that kinda pass. I like your grades ... seem pretty straight up to me. I can't help but think that the D-line and LBs were holding back a bit, playing more for contain the run, and let the DBs handle the pass coverage. I mean .. the only two long passes I remember FL throwing were both intercepted. I think there may have been one more that was so overthrown that it ended up in another Country somewhere .. or out in the gulf.
