It was probably their best game of the year. But we play so much 2 linebacker sets with a nickel that the linebackers just are not a key part of this defense. They just need to do their job in stopping the run and keep their lane assignments.
What I great Special Teams effort today. I think everything else about LSU and Bama is a push, but LSU wins the special teams hands down. . . In what's expected to be a tight game, field position is going to be huge and Bama has nothing to compete with Wing and Co.
The 2 best punters in our history are both left footed. Wrong looks like he is headed in that direction. Our lb's will play much more in 2 weeks, so we'll really be able to evaluate them. And you know we always have a player our two come out of nowhere after a bye week. Maybe another Lb.
Their return game is dangerous but he's only averaging 13 yards a return. If we can hit the endzone on kickoffs we're fine. Bama doesn't have a kicker on the team that can hit the endzone. 1 touchback all year on 52 kicks. Also averaging 38 yards on punts. They simply can't compete with LSU. Simply for the lack of having a kicker I give the edge to LSU.
It's really the only difference I can see between the two teams. That and turnover margin. I'm just happy both of these areas favor LSU.
