Well that is a dumb assessment given the fact, as I have pointed out, LF7 is NOT going to be given the same CHANCE that Hershel had......

    Mr. Conclusion Jumper.....

From your elegantly crafted "Good, Bad and Ugly" thread:

    THE GOOD
    1. This is a strong-finishing second-half team. We have to be like this in SEC play.
    2. Darrell Williams may be the best freshman running back right now.
    3. Team speed on defense really showed itself. This is looking like an old-time LSU dominating defense.
    4. The defensive line is more solid. Godchaux is looking like a player.
    5. For the third week, LSU proved deeper and in better shape in the second half than their opponents. This will not always happen in the SEC.
    6. Even with a significant injury, Dural is a serious downfield threat.
    7. Keehn punted for 48 yards a pop. High, unreturnable punts.
    8. Fournette can return kickoffs very well.

    THE BAD
    1. This is a weak-starting first half team. We can't be like this in SEC play.
    2. Jennings had decent stats but he never looked comfortable out there. He hesitated on his passes and scattered them.
    3. ULM stacked the box with defenders and stuffed the run in the first half and LSU did not make them pay for it. LSU must learn how to sustain drives.
    4. Dropped passes are starting to happen again . . .
    5. Can anybody play tight end on this team?
    6. Fournette is a big, fast, good-looking running back . . . but he is not the next Hershel Walker.
    7. The referees were not particularly good to us.
    8. The pass rush is still disappointing.

    THE UGLY

    1. The highly touted LSU offensive line is big and strong but they are not a dominating line. They are not playing smart. I expected Coach Grimes to have this unit at peak efficiency but it looks like just another underperforming Studrawa line right now.
    2. The screen pass is butt ugly. LSU cannot screen. They look like slapstick comedy whenever they try.
Your indian name is "I'm never wrong even when I'm wrong."

Wow, you're going down that path?

So his players suck, nothing to do with him? What are you, his fucking uncle?

So Les says this is the best talent he has ever had on the O-line (with tons of experience, mind you), but we're going to say Grimes needs his own recruits before we see his greatness as a coach. That's rich, amigo. You've hit a new high in faulty logic. I do think you managed to surpass the utterly absurd "Welter had a great game because I saw it in the box score".

Same old story with you. You can't stand to be disagreed with. Tough shit, get used to it.

You can't see that THREE GAMES INTO THE SEASON Fournette isn't Walker. No one said that Fournette was not good, in fact I said that explicitly. He was listed in the GOOD section, too. Everybody but you understands I'm saying that Fournette is being a typical freshman, not an instant superstar, which is no crime.

You can't see that THREE GAMES INTO THE SEASON is way too soon to say "Grimes sucks and was simply a horrible selection" and what a "fucking poor job Grimes is doing." Do you see anybody jumping on that absurd, premature bandwagon with you?

You are just doing your tired, typical scapegoating of Welter, Grimes . . . somebody . . . anybody to blame.

Hershel wasn't an instant superstar either

In fact, at no season did he ever crack 6 ypc.

No logical person could make that call either way 3 games in a season.

So may want to revisit this one, from an 8 time All-Pro.......

    http://www.1045espn.com/upload/KevinMawae07-23-14.mp3

Kevin never holds back, he will tell you like it is, no BS.

I have know Kevin since his days at LSU, had an open pass to games and practice, he's always been this way. Great guy. I did get a chance to talk with him and Todd McClure after the Grimes hire. Listen to the end of the tape, Kevin talks terminology, these players have been doing it the Studs way for 3,4 and 5 years. Grimes is going in and having to wipe clean everything they have learned up to this time. You hear Kevin talk about top heavy, on your toes, etc. Like I said, look at Grimes resume, Kevin talks about what Grimes is teaching. I often talk about technique when talking OL, Grimes is getting this out to the kids.

Right now we have a instate kid that Jeff is recruiting, gonna be very hard to change him, but right now Jeff is doing something that Studs could rarely do. Getting a top rated OL in state to look very had at the Tigers. ND or LSU, we have a shot with Jeff, a better shot than ever.

I went back and took a look at the game. What I saw was a couple things. The improvement from game one to game two came into play. Porter missed on his first play, the defender made the tackle. But a lot like the Wisconsin game, he did better as the game went on. Evan Washington played three diff. positions Sat night, LG, RG and ROT when Hawk went down with over 8 mins left in the third quarter. Moving Washington around did a few things, able to get players on the sidelines, to get a view of what Grimes wants done. Looking at the 5 guys working together. Oh, Hawk would later return.

I did see the TE Jeter play a bunch, throughout the game and did well. Melvin Jones at FB.

We did not see Pocic, at all.

LSU rested a few players, as do many teams, knowing conference play starts this Sat.

I heard an interview on the radio with one of the O Lineman, I don't remember who before the season. He talked about how much more Grimes was teaching them than Studwara. He said that Grimes was teaching them that when they come up to the line of scrimmage to look not only at their own primary blocking assignment but also to look downfield for possible secondary blocks once the play was in action.

Maybe they should just be worried about blocking their man at the snap of the ball. I was one of those who thought this year's O Line was going to be one of the Top 5 in the NCAA. If they can't take control of the line of scrimmage from the opening gun against the likes of ULM then what are they going to do when they have to block the Alabamas of the world?

I still see the line as being a major strength in this offense this year. Grimes is right, you have to account for everyone. OL have to get to that second level. Like I said, they have been doing the same thing for 3-5 years, hard to break a habit. Once again, looking back at the game. In the 4th, you could see Les and Grimes talking on the sidelines during the game. Grimes has been doing a lot of things these last two games, all with getting players ready for in conference games. With more than 10 mins left in the game, we brought in a good backup line, Boutte, Malone, Austin, Dodd and Washington stayed in. The one that got me, is K J Malone, he was thought to be an OC, then talk of him playing the guard position, late in the game, he was playing LOT.
