I think the DBs are slightly less to blame. The DL got zero push in the second half except for a handful of pressures. You can’t cover 5 wide for 7-10 seconds straight.
QB A+ Burrow delivered a huge win early in the season. WRs helped out but Burrow was on point all night. RB C- Had some missed blocks and seems to be suffering from LSU's new pass happy offense. Not sure the OL is opening lanes for our RBs but CEH was going down on first contact too often. Pretty disappointed in CEH and the young guys behind him don't look ready to shine. Would have liked to see Curry but I don't think it would have been different. I didn't think DL/LB was a strong suit for Texas. We'll face tougher. OL B- I'll give the OL credit for allowing Burrow to succeed, but I'll give our passing game coordinator just as much credit with the quick passing game and spread attack. Our running backs weren't able to do much. I'm still down with firing the OL coach. WR A+ This was a unit I thought seriously held us back last year. Last night they broke the game open. Not that the "DBU" from Texas was much good. I mean, we faced a Big 12 defense. Still, Burrow could have been awesome, but without the WRs performing it wouldn't have amounted to shit. TE C+ Not much stood out. Didn't need them much in the passing game. DL C+ Goal line stop gets them points. They weren't porous against the run, made some stops against a passing QB with wheels. Couldn't handle the heat. Didn't get much pressure on QB; partly they were getting whooped by Texas OL, partly they were being held all night. LB C- Not great in coverage. Ok against the run. DB C- Oh hell no. DBU got burned all night. Big 12 Dave has some explaining to do. All that shit talking and didn't back it up. Ok, I'm pissed. A couple of NFL level pass breakups were sprinkled in there. Texas WRs were frickin huge. ST B- We tried to ice our own kicker, but dude came through twice. Pretty damn impressed, dude has been money on FGs. Kickoffs go through end zone. BUT... that on-side kick recovery was piss-pour. Inexcusable. Would have been an A+ without that gaffe. Coaching C Passing game was incredible. OL was pretty lame. DBU was exposed. DL looked out of shape. What happened to Eaux's "attacking style" DL? Cramping while Texas looked fine all night was a little embarrassing; I'm sure some of it was intentional. Big 12 Dave had no fricking answer for Texas' pass game and our running game was unable to churn clock. There might have been a correlation there, but the LSU D couldn't get a god damn stop. Then that STs error on the onside kick could have cost us the game.
Coaching B. We should have pounded them a little more and ran time off the clock especially first 2nd half drive.
I give coaching an A-. Would have been A+ if the hydration had been properly handled. Either kiki or ramah said it is a 3 day process. Whose job is that? Is it Mariucci or some team doctor?
Usually, only against Alabama and (sometimes) Auburn. Can you deny that there are times that games are not called evenly?
