When LSU started struggling to move the ball Harris should have had his shot. He pressed when he did get it.
Yeah, he made some good throws, especially the one in very tight coverage near midfield on a 3rd down play. Very impressive. He also saw his TE wide open over the middle, which was an extremely welcome sight. I also saw much of the same thing plaguing his growth, which is not being decisive in his reads. He simply cannot hold onto the ball that long against Ole Miss or Alabama these next 2 games.
Agreed. I think it is obvious though that AJ is Mile's guy. It will take another real stinker for Harris to get a shot. At least this season.
You know the way the game is played Stacey. Jennings is now in the same category Miles is. When things go well it's always someone one else who made that possible. When the team fails it's all on them. Jennings protected the football, and was over 50% on 3rd down. Harris came in and threw a pick into double coverage. This is what's going to happen, if Jennings doesn't throw for 300 and 4 TD's Harris will always be the better option. Until Harris comes in and fails, that will be Miles fault until Harris does this over and over and over again, then they will be clamoring for his back up. I've seen this show before.
I agree. You hear Miles talk about Jennings on his pregame and halftime interviews on the field and you can tell Jennings is exactly the QB he wants to have in there, a game manager who won't make mistakes. May not make the plays either, but that doesn't matter, Miles wants to ground and pound.
AJ is doing enough to win. He is better than some are or were saying. That said, AJ has probably taken 10-1 snaps more than Harris. Yet is just a lil over double the yards. The TD's/INT's are AJ 7/3 and Harris 6/2. In terms of drives that lead to TD's Harris is far more ahead of AJ. Those are clear reasons that the position should be far more open than it is. Therefore it is clear that AJ is Miles' guy no matter what. I give Miles and staff credit for really improving the play of the D. The kids are starting to come around and gelling. However when it comes to the O, there is improvement but there is a lack of creativity.
As long as Jennings keeps completing 7 of 14 fans will be looking for a second option whether that be Harris or someone else.
How many of those were throw aways though? I saw at least 3. Were there any drops? I missed most of the 2nd quarter. There are mitigating factors.
That has to do with a QB with a very low ceiling. This is all we will ever get out of this passing game with Jennings. Either long pass plays or really not much of anything else.
And therin lies the problem. Harris seems to have freshman nerves/jitters but lots of upside. This is as good as Jenninerferson will ever get.
