You are right, Metts 9 passing TDs is the most by a QB through the first 3 games of a season in LSU history... the next best is Mauck back in '03 with 8 TDs.
Not bad, only one tackle recorded. Ego led the team with 8 tackles, 1 sack and 1 TFL. White finished with 4 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 FF, not bad and he went out a little early. Eugene still looking good, Martin also. Collins is playing a little better. Kwon Alexander had another good game.
I think we're looking at Ego and Freak leading the way dominating their positions and a bunch of other players that need to step up. I would venture to guess we haven't had a 3rd defensive player behind Ego and Freak play consistenly well for 3 games. That's a bit disconcerting. We'll see who plays the most snaps for Auburn. Obviously White and Alexander deserve a lot of PT. It's the DE spots that are really up in the air. No one has blossomed. And we have tried everyone. I'm looking for the more experienced guys to step up and lead the way: Loston, Barrow, Boyd, Rasco.
I am very concerned that we are this unsettled at linebacker and in the secondary, with 3 games in the books and the start of the SEC schedule up next.
Allen hasn't been bad. While Rasco has had some bad plays he's had some good plays as well. He just needs to find that balance. Danielle Hunter seems very solid also. Doesn't make the OMFG plays but isn't giving up anything big either. They're young and in all honesty most people here are more comparing them to 2011 than 2012 or really any other recent year. We've gotten spoiled.
Somebody needs to start getting to the QB by the time we play Georgia. That's all I have to say. Otherwise we're looking at giving up 450 yards and at least 34 points.
I don't know, if we can't find that 3rd guy, do you move Allen inside? I think he could play DT, Rasco and Hunter have played well. Beckwith has played the DE and LB positions, an done well in both. Guess they with look at film and keep looking for the best 11 to put on the field.
I definitely think Allen would actually benefit from moving him inside. Hunter is actually rather impressive to me, he's not flashy but he's ALWAYS a part of the play. My biggest worry on defense is actually the fact that we seem terrible at creating turnovers. We've had guys who the ball seriously went through their hands on what should have been a pick, or not having an eye for the ball on fumbles. I miss the honey badger.
