QB: A I thought about giving him a B+ with the 2nd half offense stalling but then I said screw that, it's the OC/HC's fault for refusing to remained balanced. Not Harris' fault at all. Awesome performance by the young man, and not a single pass in danger of getting picked. He made Florida pay. RB: A- Great job by LF7 with a stacked box most of the night. His performance tonight puts an even tighter stanglehold on that Heisman trophy. It's his to lose. WR: B Good job by the receivers, especially superstar-to-be Malachi Dupre. Dural decided to drop a pass of course. Would just like to see Diarse get into the picture and make us that much more unpredictable. TE/FB: C+ Good job by Mouton filling in at fullback. Tight ends still not much of a part of the passing offense. OL: B+ Great job for the majority of the night by this unit. Again LSU became too one dimensional in the 2nd half allowing the defense to get the upper hand and make this unit's job much more difficult than it needed to be. DL: B Active but not on a consistent enough level. We need to figure out better strategy for getting to the QB. This is one of the least competent QBs we'll face the rest of the way and he was allowed to throw for 271 yards. Run defense was stellar. LB: C- This unit is regressing a bit. Time to pick it up. DB: C Much like the Syracuse game, you simply can't give up 271 yards passing to a QB like Treon Harris. Way too many mental and communication breakdowns on the back half of this defense. Jefferson had his worst game as a Tiger. ST/K: D An F was saved by the fake field goal for a touchdown. LSU will not beat Alabama if Bradley Dale Peveto is still Special Teams coach. Time to make a midseason move. Les needs to be an ass for the first time in his life. Coaching: C Another game where the opponent was being dominated but this team is either undisciplined, unfocused or have entire unit breakdowns (special teams) that allow the other team to make it too close for comfort. Coaching has to improve going forward. Where did the misdirection plays when running the ball go to? Balanced in the first half, 28 points. One dimensional in the 2nd half, 7 points.
I'm not sure how you dont give Harris an A+, he's not calling the plays. Even his misses were close plays on heavily contested balls. I'd also give the FB a B. Remember this is a good florida D.
I agree with everything except the grades for D line and LB's. Linebackers played much better tonight. The DB's were the crux tonight, lots of blown coverages, blown assignments and missed opportunities. And Lewis Neal alone should bump that grade up for the D line.
3-7 for 13 yards in the 2nd half. No QB would receive an A+ rating with a half of football like that. I agree, as I said myself, not his fault
DL played much better tonight and deseve a better grade {A-}. DB's would not have looked as bad if it were not for Jefferson. He is horrible!!!! Bad bloodline!!! It was so good to see Mills in the game at the end.
Jefferson has played good ball at times, I'm not sure what the problem is this season. Is it scheme or chemistry? Even with average DBs there shouldn't be as much confusion and busts. Hopefully things will start to gel in the backfield soon.
Dieon Jones played his best game of the year tonight, especially since he had to actually cover receivers. That's big time.
Next week's opponent, Western Kentucky, is no slouch. Strong passing game. Hope the secondary gets straightened out or it's going to be a long night back there.
