I agree, the LSU system is a feast or famine system for QB's. Run on 1st down, run on 2nd down, then put your QB in a must convert 3rd down, and do this consistently, drive after drive..... He is either a hero or a zero. When in reality, we throw so little we never get comfortable. The o-line isn't comfortable pass protecting, the RBs are not comfortable pass blocking then finding an open area and checking down, same for our TE's, keeping our QB and WR's always having a hard time getting in rhythm. LSU has to be the EASIEST offense to game plan for and coach against. Hands Down.
we dont throw because under Les, we play hide the qb. Has been this way under most of his qb recruits. very hard to win against better competition playing not to lose.
Maybe he held on so long because no one was open. Jesse Palmer may several comments the WRs were not creating separation. Jennings threw no interceptions and took few sacks that weren't due to blitz's where he had no time. Bold prediction there...would you have started Harris last night??? Where would you have played him???? If Jennings can manage the games successfully enough to win he should keep his job. He failed at Moo State and was replaced by Harris....Harris failed at Auburn and Jennings succeeded last night...How is that being Lee'd??? Seems like Les responded to the situation as required so far and I hope he does as required in the future.
no i dont think les handled it wrong last night but I still think this is the end of harris as a starter. the win likely gave les false hope that we can be competitive simply running against non-muschamp teams.
However, we have usually won against "better competition" for years now. And as to your point about running successfully against a Muschamp team. Last week, everyone was saying that while Florida is not a good offensive team that their defense is legit. Which is it?
Floridas only saving grace is their defense, minus debose on offense. But last night Fournette/Hillliard were just too much for them, hell even McGee broke a few decent runs, wish we'd could see more oh him as well.
mea culpa. i meant winning not running. But yeah, Les usually has better talent. And we did again tonight. Floridas secondary minus hargreaves was their weak point as well as a smallish defensive front. It wasnt hard to guess which one les would choose to try to expose. Props to our oline for kicking ass last night. fournette had holes like he hadnt seen all year not even against nmst.
It was certainly Fournette's coming out party. He's starting to gain confidence and not look like a scared freshman.
