QB D+ Very poor QB play by Harris. He did not lose the game last night. That's a positive, but he certainly isn't making enough plays to keep this offense balanced. RB A+ Obviously the buzz after last night's game is the coming out party of one Leonard Fournette. The kid is indeed special. Seriously, you have a spin move in your arsenal as well? WR B Tough to grade a unit in which the QB performed so poorly. The catch by Dural is one for the ages. TE/FB B Stokes caused a PI in the endzone, helping us score 7. Melvin Jones played spectacularly at FB. OL B- Best game of the season, although there is still much work to do. DL B Best game of the season as well, and again still much work to do. Our DEs got after it last night and our interior held up reasonably well. LB B- The Beckwith era has officially begun. Thank goodness. Disappointing to see him fail on the 4th down run by Driskel, however. He needs to play bigger than that. DB B+ As great a catch as Dural made, the interception by Jefferson was scintillating. ST/K D The extra point almost came back to hurt us. The special teams was beyond woeful. The only thing saving this grade was the field goal to win the game from 50 yards out. Coaching B It wasn't pretty for a good bit of the game (poor passing game execution, special teams, missed XP), but give credit to Miles and his staff for getting this team to pick themselves up after the embarrassment last week. Hopefully this win spurs this young team to end up with a respectable SEC record. Same issues still hurting us (clock management, game situation management, etc).
And I don't see how you can blame Jennings when the dude was put in terrible situation after terrible situation. Did he not complete a huge 3rd down on an out to Quinn? Did he not complete a 41 yarder to Dural on 3rd and 25? There is no balance, that makes it hard on any qb.
Pretty good grades except for the D's, perhaps. I'd give Harris a 0, since he did not play. Jennings rates a C+ from me just by leading his team to a win and making some key 3rd downs. All true, but the long, high and consistent punting and the long field goal rates them a C from me.
Oh and how about all the check downs to the fullback. That was only Jennings 2nd SEC start in his career. 1st on the road, against a good defense, in a hostile environment. A place that LSU had lost 3 of their last 4. He did enough, made plays when he had to, and didn't turn it over.
dude, we get it you want to make a case for jennings. red is right, he gets a c+ for winning and not making costly mistakes. past that, he's a pretty crappy passer and decision maker in general. he holds onto the ball far far far too long much like jordan jefferson did throughout his career. Harris got Lee'd last night. We likely won't see him start another game. This is not a good thing. But stubborn les only knows one way usually.
Jennings managed the game that LES wanted to play pretty well. We'd have done the same with Harris (run, run, pass, punt). Jennings in his SO year looks better than JJ in his SR.
The fact that the bar for QB play has been lowered soooo far at LSU that this is even being debated is a sad sad sign.
youve been trying to make a case hes a decent qb almost incessantly since last week. hes not good but hes a les miles qb. which means harris is likely sniffing pine from here out.
