FYI, I was agreeing with your response to sully, who seems to be brow beating Oeaux for his time at Old Piss. But he's explained a million times why he's a better coach now then he was back, but some either don't believe it or don't want to give him a chance. In the short time that he's been interim and full head coach, those who are paying attention can already see the positive changes he's made over the antiquated 70's Big 10 '3 yards and a cloud of dust' offense that we used to run. What I like best it that we're still a physical, run first offense, but we're more balanced and creative. Even the running plays show imagination. There's a cool article breaking down the new, purposely scaled back offense we ran Sat. night, for those interested. https://www.seccountry.com/lsu/film-review-matt-canada-lsu-opener-next-tigers-offense
I read the article as it was posted somewhere else and it does have a spread-power football sense to it. Movement will make you hesitate and give power runners the opportunity to not meet a 300 pound tackler in the hole. All our RB need is a little wiggle room and they can do the rest. Remember this team is built for power not finesse, we only need enough of the latter to keep opposing D honest. I like his style and creativity within the base offense.
Seems Oeaux agrees with my kickoff critique, not bragging just saying. The kickoff team could see more changes, too, Orgeron said. He was unhappy with LSU’s kickoff coverage and its “lane assignments.” BYU averaged 19.1 yards per kick return. “We’re going to make some changes in the personnel on kickoffs,” Orgeron said.
Yep and he got hurt because he was consistently plowing into 9-10 man fronts. Imagine a defense that had to play honestly.
