islstl's grades, as usual, are pretty spot on in my opinion...we can split hairs all day. Bottom line is in bold.

Georgia got pushed around for the better part of their televised game against North Texas. You would have to think they are going to come out next week with a lot more determination.

LSU's play calling and the teams execution seemed to have no rhythm in the second half. Maybe a lackluster performance is what this team needs to get it better prepared for Georgia. I don't know, but we better play and manage the game a whole lot better next week.

I think Malzahn's offense is going to be giving teams fits in the future.

Islstl's unit grades are seem reasonable but I am more than worried about the D. There were some good individual performances but as a unit they were more often beaten than made plays. It is good the Barner QB couldn't pass consistently because there were open receivers all night. A a unit there were breakdowns at every level on most plays. Tackling remains poor. The D line was gashed up the middle and the LB corp while finally making tackles they weren't in the hole but were from chasing runners down They did a better job on outside runs. I liked T White and he shows much promise. As Stacy said Micah Eugene missed his coverage badly on the two long passes. If we play like that against the better Os we will have a challenge to win.
As most I have a problem with the coaches taking the foot off the gas. With the D we need scores and the coaches (Les) needs to adjust. I as a few others have no problem with the fake FG.

The weather was nasty for the first half and the crowd was pretty good....then the rain stopped and everyone disappeared even the students. That was embarrassing and as Stacy said once you're wet you're wet. Sure fans buy tickets and have the right to leave but come on man if you can't stick this game out what right do you have to bitch about the play and coaching? It seems to me those who left must not be interested enough. BTW there was a guy in the stands who had just lost 3 toes to diabetes and stayed to the last second.

The zebras were embarrassing. Stacy was wrong the took two TDs away on consecutive calls. The holding call she notes was right in front of me and the barner grabbed our blocker and threw him away. The next play Landry wasn't down. The line judge on the east side make the ball at the 9 yard mark on the onside KO and why he didn't hold his ground. In other words it was particularly BAD SEC refereeing and seemed the Alabama effect was in play.

In sum I think we will need to change philosophy until the D shapes up. We cannot afford to keep the foot off the gas. I am also afraid that the D won't get too much better as I see us making the same mistakes as in the first game and just not having the physical tools we had in the last few years.

I didnt like what I seen last night. I seen LSU really let up when they could have smashed Auburn. It was the same ole LSU play calling weve seen the previous few years. LSU became predictable and stagnant because of it. We should have kept full throttle, put the game away then get Jennings some time against SEC competition. I put all of that on coaching. The kids played very well outside of the OL and their usual false starts. LSU must address that. Our OL has so much potential and talent. I really like the group but the false starts must stop. You cant blame the OL for not making holes when everyone knows whats coming next.

THe DL gets pretty solid penetration. We may not get the sacks but I think they a solid group. The issue is the LBs and DBs. Poor angles and poor tackling. LSU needs to start teaching better tackling technique. As well as taking better angles. I think Alexander is really coming around. Id like to see more of Beckwith. Our D is a good D by avg standards. However we arent the D that has been traditional at LSU.

So, any play that works was Cam's call and those that didn't were made by Les? Miles was a fool for throwing the ball 3 straight times vs Clemson but a fool for running 3 times vs Auburn? Lol

I saw a lot of things last night that I loved, liked and disliked. In watching games of the other top teams I saw many of the same things.

I hope we improve in all facets while our future opponents don't! :)

You still didn't address how Jordan Allen is going to possibly even attempt to play DT. Georgia would run up the gut all game long.

And let me add that Jarvis was down on that play. Both his helmet and the ball hit the ground.

Also, I agree that the holding call on Landry's td was a bad call. What is it that gets into the refs when we play Auburn?

On a side note the zebras are back to helping Notre Dame win again. I think they called at least 4 phantom penalties vs the MSU defense on scoring drives. Reminded me of the called vs LSU many years ago that set the Irish up for the winning fg.

    and his elbow was down

actually I just researched about the football touching the ground, and that would not be a reason to blow the play dead

That's true if he held it in his hand and his hand was on top of the ball.

Once again common sense rears its ugly head........

Go and look at some of the uga boards, after their play against N. Tx. they don't think they can beat us. Course we have some on here thinking we can't beat uga. Lots of mixture on both sides. I too loved, liked and disliked a few things last night.
