Good read. This is in Jindal's own words. Link Following are 6 points he made. He expounds on them in the article. We've discussed / argued the Obamacare thing to death so I'm not really looking to do that, although it will probably happen anyway. I just wanted to post because it is a well thought out and well articulated piece on his position.
All solid points. However none of that matters to liberals when it comes to what is "owed" to people.
Jindal has problems with that too. Take retirement for example. Forget that people had paid into it for years, he scrapped many and planned to scrap educators' too. He and Obama have a lot in common. They're also both half white.
Jindal has a background in healtcare and spent 7 years I think in Washington as part of Bush's Healthcare team. He shaped much of the Bush Administration's healthcare policy, including a role in the prescription drug plan that was nothing more than a blank check for Big Pharma. He has more than enough opportunity to address the issue and has failed to even make a meager impact. He has zero credibility on this issue. He has spent his term as Governor tearing down one of the state's few bright spots in the state hospital system. The vast majority in the state cannot afford to purchase private insurance because there are not enough jobs in his state that provide full time employment with benefits such as health insurance. Instead of bring more jobs to the state or trying to find a way to ensure that his constituents are cared for, he chooses to spend his time chastising the poor. He is better served in helping the people of Louisiana obtain healthcare rather than fight the options that have been given to them because he is a Republican and Obama is a Democrat. I voted for Jindal and am ashamed that I wasted the vote.
Qualified or not, they are great points even if someone did the work for him. Bottom line is the "Oh shit what did we get ourselves into" list is about to start growing. Remember that bag of bones pelosi saying "you have to pass the bill before you can find out what is in it"! Well they are finding out that it really sucks.
The state is adding quality jobs at a rate of 38,000 per year. A quality job being defined as a job that pays national median income or higher and includes benefits. Economic development has been the shining star of his terms. The job growth has been amazing. There are more than a dozen projects that involve more than 1 billion dollars in private investment going on right now. The boom for Louisiana is literally right around the corner. The next 15 to 20 years are goign to be good for this state. Really good.
General Dynamics is about to open a call center in Bogalusa with 600 full time jobs with benefits. For a dying town of 12000, this is huge. Thanks Gov Jindal.
The boom for the whole damn country is right around the corner. Louisiana is probably experiencing it earlier than some because it is the tip of the Natural Gas spear, so to speak. Over the course of the next 3-5 years a convergence of several factors are going to create an economic boom that will likely last for 20-25 years. It will be driven by the natural gas and oil industries as the US is poised to be the worlds leading exporter of oil by 2020; not to mention energy independent which will also create more affordable fuel costs. Further, whether it is Obamacare, a revised version of Obamacare or a health care plan that replaces Obamacare, our national health care system will be more affordable and less of a financial burden to many families. Lastly, immigration reform stands to create in the neighborhood of 7-10 million new tax payers which will only help us lower the national debt and deficit even faster. You guys better hurry and elect a Republican in 2016 so you can take the credit for it.
There are so many huge NG projects going on in Louisiana that the local chambers of commerce and regional economic development agencies are not even taking meetings for projects under 1 billion dollars. It is insane. There will be more capital investment in Louisiana in the next 3 years than in the previous 50. That isn't hyperbole. This Governor and his Economic Development Secratary, more through appearance than anything else, have transformed the perception of business climate in Louisiana. In 2007 this state was next to last in business index rankings. We are now in the top third of all major ones and are cracking the top 5 in many. Job creation has been nothing short of amazing, and the fact is the dicidends have not begun to pay off yet. We are still 6 to 12 months out. Total number of Republicans I have voted for ever = 0.
