Likewise, trust us, there are a lot of SEC fans that when they were given the opportunity, returned EVERYTHING they'd been dished out over three decades and did it tenfold. Payback is a bitch, ain't it. Every team in the league has its ups and downs and you guys have had fewer down cycles than anybody. Are you really surprised when other SEC teams are not exactly feeling sorry for you when you finally have to take a turn in the lower tier. Bama and Florida have lost some of that old football swagger in this decade and LSU has found some. We know you don't like it, we didn't like it in the 90's either. One thing is for sure, . . . the pecking order always changes in this league. You have to enjoy it when you are on a toll.
Nootch, I agree with you. I think the reason Les gets all the attention about the 4th down thing is that we were lucky enough to be nationally televised for nearly every game last year. In fact, we were "THE GAME" several times and garnered a large percentage of the college football viewers. I think it was that massive TV exposure that makes Les SEEM like such a gambler. Particularly in the Florida game, where it seemed like we had an endless number of 4th down conversions. (I don't know if my heart has stopped pounding yet!) As an out of state Tiger Fan, I can't tell you how rare it is for me to be able to see eight or ten Tiger football games televised! There's no Tigervision here, so I had to listen to a couple of games like Middle Tennessee. Overall, though, it felt like LSU was "America's Team" last fall with so many TV appearances. Most seasons I'm lucky to catch more than one game. I can only hope for that much exposure again! ldskule:ldskule:ldskule:
And, of course, all good coaches are cocky--almost egomaniacs. Great athletes are like that, too; it's all part of their swagger, and if they don't have swagger, they aren't worth much.
Your soap box of all the things you've listed about "all you ever hear" is no different than same crap other schools bitch about. Like I said every school "doesn't get respected", "gets dissed by ESPN" and is the victim of the world. LSU is no different than other schools about the "blah blah blah" "you always hear". Bama "always hears" the same "blah blah blah", so does Ole Miss, Miss St, Florida and the beat goes on. Before including me under the not respecting your coach blanket you need to read some of my post on tidefans. More times than not I give Les credit. As a coach on the field I respect what he has done and I believe my remarks are consistent with that statement. As a person I lost some respect for the guy with his latest comments but since have been "educated" by LSU fans on tidefans that Les has always been that way and is cocky by nature. I agree with Red in that when your team is up you better enjoy it. Because paybacks are a bitch. :bncry:
Oh, I agree with everything you say. While you're on top you better get your punches in because with the ever changing pecking order it's only a matter of time before you have to start taking the punches. But I think we all can agree that it is better to give than receive.
That's why this board isn't run like tidefans. I post on several "different type" boards. Tidefans is run a certain way for a reason. Just like this board is run a certain way for a reason. There's been more Bama fans banned and suspended on tidefans than rival fans. I've been about an eyeblink from it SEVERAL SEVERAL times. Not everybody likes the same flavor ice cream and many folks like different flavors.
