Exactly, two different styles but both quite effective. There's no sense in Miles doing it any other way because it's not his personality. Same with Saban. There's no need for him to coach any other of way than his personality.

A team couldn't go wrong with either coach at the helm. They're both good coaches.

<--- Enjoys good rival posters on the board.

One more note about Spurrier. He had a great offensive philosophy and with the fertile recruiting pool he enjoyed at Florida, he always had outstanding talent to run his spread offense. However, I didn't think he was a great on field coach the way he wore his emotions on his sleeve and yank QBs like they were 3rd string linemen. He had so many shell shocked QBs out there that were so afraid to do something wrong that many couldn't think on their feet. That philosophy didn't cut it in the NFL. Now that he's at Carolina and is not getting the constant 4 to 5 star recruiting class, his ways of coaching are really being put to the test.

Ole Nicky is another coach that pitches fits on the sideline. You can get into the heads of college kids this way but you can also demoralize them.

I'll never forget a story Mike Ditka related when he was coach of the Saints. He was trying to chew a player out for not doing his assignment. The player said, "My bad" and went about his business. I thought Ditka was going to explode while telling it. lol.

Interesting analogy between Spurier/Ditka. Both were emotional on the sidelines. But Spurier was a whiner while Ditka was a throw back to the Lombardi style of coaching. Spurrier had an amazing amount of talent at the skill positions with above average QB's throwing to them at UF. Defenses were slow to adjust to the 3 step drop quick throw approach Spurrier employed.
Ditka employed a defensive minded approach with enough offense to get the job done. He was an in your face type coach early on but softened up after the Super Bowl.
