For starters, the law mandated everyone have it. Of the pool that the Obamacare law was for, 2/3's either couldn't even afford that or paid the penalty. 20 million will only "lose" healthcare if the "choose" to not "buy" it. As it should be. Totally disingenuous the way it is being reported. 2nd, Trump is repealing the Obamacare tax. Sure, call it a tax cut. Its just another fabrication.
The fact that health care is not a right! There has never been a time in this country where if you were sick or hurting you could not go to an ER and get help regardless of if you had insurance or not. Never. It not pretty, it's not fun to say but that doesnt make it any less true.
This shows a fundamental lack of understanding of healthcare economics. Yes, ERs will always be open for the sick and indigent which is precisely why as many people as possible should have healthcare coverage. ERs are by far the most expensive form of healthcare delivery. If you concede that we shouldn't let people die in the streets, then why are you a proponent of treating them in the most expensive way possible? I suspect it's be cause you, like our president, don't understand the problem. Trump said "No one had any idea how complicated healthcare is." What a fucking idiot. Anyone with a brain knows and that's why I said months ago that they won't be able to fix it. Clearly, they're proving me right.
They can't fix it because they can't get past the fact that not everyone should have it. Its not a right or an entitlement. Should everyone have a house too? What about a car? a dog? oh a boat, certainly everyone deserves a boat.
This goes to what I've said many times here. Yes, health care is too expensive. Yes, health care is too complicated. And a huge reason for the first is the second. Broken record alert....the first step to making health care affordable is to get the insurance companies out of routine treatment. Having to use insurance to see the doctor because I have a stomach virus is about as idiotic as using car insurance to pay for an oil change. When I get that stomach virus, the doctor should be able to tell me, its $40 for the visit, and another $10 for the shot you'll need. Pay me now...end of story. Insurance should come into play only if my doctor can't treat me in his office that day.
Makes a lot of sense but some people would still go to the ER even if their out of pocket expenses were only $50. And what doctor do you know who only charges $40 for an office visit? I don't know any general practitioners who charge less that $125 and I'm sure specialists charge a lot more.
All of your arguments are based on feelings and how much "smarter" you are than Trump. You do know that it is a myth uninsured drive the costs of ER visits up right? A total myth. Biggly. It's something like 11% of ER visits translate to overnight stays. SO why are Urgent Care Clinics far cheaper? It has NOTHING to do with uninsured patients........
Well, my numbers were just for the example of how I think it should happen. I really don't know what doctors would charge, but remember, the $125 you're talking about is with insurance involved. Get the insurance out, and doctors are likely to charge a lot less for not having the expense of dealing with their bureaucratic nonsense.
If you want to lower health care cost you have no choice but to start with tort reform. If the Dr's don't have to carry a 1b malpractice policy the cost goes way down. Beings that Congress as well as the lobbyists pool is made up of mostly lawyers, well good luck with that.
Universal problem. My TV station can't sell a local casino advertising because their corp. demands anyone who does business them carry a million dollars liability insurance. Its absurd.
