What do you guys think about the way google is positioning itself into every facet of daily life.

Statements like this piss me off.

Google boss dismisses privacy concerns - V3.co.uk - formerly vnunet.com

Google - from friend to foe?

Then there is the caving of google to the Chinese government over censorship issues.

The fact that new phone service by google caches and stores all calls and messages for the phone numbers. There is also a transcript of the message stored "so the user has access at any time."

They are now moving into the monitoring of electrical power.

So very shortly they will have cached on their servers, all phone records, everything you do on the internet (particularly if you use their DNS servers, search engines, and storelinks.)

All of your records stored nice and neat for anyone with access to see.

It's our own fault. Everyone's need for everything that they do to be connected is what has brought us to this point. They gave the people what they wanted and just kept all of the data along the way. If it wasn't Google it would be someone else.

You have no privacy. The police, the feds, and the private investigators have had access to all your electronic data for years. Google just makes it easy for prospective employers, girlfriends, enemies, crooks, busybodies, and kooks to learn everything about you that they want to know.

Thats very true Red but your post has given me a great idea. What if there was an instructional course either downloadable or available on a DVD for somewhere between $19.95 and $99.95 that would teach you how to use Google against those who would use it against you? Lets say you want a certain job. You know that the prospective employer is going to Google your skeletons so before you even apply you find out who the person doing the hiring is and Google his skeletons?

Would he dare to not give you the job and risk exposure?

The posibilities are endless. I think I'll call it The Google Ninja Method.

YOU CAN BECOME A GOOGLE NINJA

    * DESTROY YOUR ENEMIES WITH THE CLICK OF A MOUSE

    * MAKE THE GIRL OF YOUR DREAMS YOUR LOVE SLAVE

    * NEVER BE PASSED OVER FOR THAT RAISE AGAIN

    * BECOME IMMUNE FROM ONLINE CROOKS

Who said I was OK with that? I am a realist however and Big Brother has been here for a long time. I'm appalled at how much a Google search can bring up about me. Go Google yourself and you may be appalled, too.

I discovered that my 1995 resume is on the internet and I didn't put it there, some professsional association did. My employer gives out way too much information, too. The credit bureaus will give information to anybody that says that they have a legitimate reason and will pay for the service. I put no personal info about myself on social sites like many fools do, but still, stuff gets out there. My high school class put out a PDF on what everyone was now doing, so a capsule history of my last 35 years is out there.

Clever researchers can find all my state and federal contracts, my salary, my publications, photo's of me that have been posted on other people's social networking sites, the property I own, and probably even my net worth. Cookies on my computer tell marketers what websites I frequent and where I buy things and what I buy. They tell political parties, charities, and promoters what my demographics are so that I can be solicited.

If you have hobbies or activities in which you interact with others online or through associations, those can all be found, too. You'd be surprised on how many lists that your name appears on that is out there on the internet somewhere. It's not only easy to find your phone numbers and address, but also all your former addresses.

We have no privacy. It is important for people to realize this. There are a few things you can do to curb the personal data hemorrhage, but not much.

You people are all a bunch of Commies. Trade google stock options and you'll make so much money
you won't care if they invade your privacy or not, you'll be wealthy enough to have anyone in the world executed if they piss you off.
