Don't take that list seriously, that's just something for the media to write about and probably didn't come from anyone with any inside knowledge or input.
any list with jon gruden is automatically null and void. that writer's sources are obviously laughable. he should have at least realized he was getting punked when he got to that part. But LSU is apparently going after an established coach. Whoever those are.
I'm not a scared fan, I'm a fan who's not afraid to think things through. Most of you want to change coaches because you think anyone is better than Miles, that's stupid. I want to change only if we can get someone better. Making a change for the worse is dog shit stupid, of which you are the self acknowledged expert. Look, we've had 8 coaches in the modern football era - starting with Charlie Mac. (10, but I'm not counting Rein and Hunter). Only 1 of those 8 can you say was definitely better than Miles - Saban. Only 1 can say was comparable - Arnsbarger, but he bailed on us after three years. The rest were worse to much worse or even much much much worse - I'm looking at you Halman. Is anyone curious about the fact that the only two good coaches (other than Miles) left our premier program after 5 years and 3 years? The best way to get better is to learn from other peoples mistakes. Bama went through ten years of shit with Dubse, Franchione, Price, and Shula before they got Saban. We can do better than that, if we are willing to be patient and wait for the right opportunity. I'm not afraid to make a change, but I'm also not afraid to think it through to make sure we improve. Not just anybody can do this job. And if we can't be reasonably sure its an improvement, then I'm willing to wait until we can be sure.
Yep. It is Miles own fault. He wanted a running QB to play a pro style offense. It did not work. He lost out on a few pro style QBs because of his want to have it both ways. A team has to decide what they are and do the best to be that.
Unfortunately no... I got home from Bass fishing, watched the game by myself and pounded a case. Not good for todays wake up. Currently on a strong ibuprofen regimen.
We don't know whether Alleva leaked it to the media himself or it was leaked by a member of the BOS or a fat cat booster. Either way, the effects are the same. Other than hiring and firing coaches, the main function of an AD is to raise money from the well heeled fans. Well heeled fans feel like since they are contributing lots of money they are entitled to inside information. What good is having inside info if you don't leak it to your buddies to show them how much "in the know" you are? Whether their is a "magic solution" or not depends on how the next coaching hire transpires and who is hired and whether it's a drawn our search or already a done deal. The most prominent name mentioned is Jimbo Fisher. If that's true and the details have already been worked out and agreed to by all parties that would be like getting a non contested divorce from Roseann Barr because you have Kate Upton has already packed and is on the way to move into your house. You and some other fans may not agree or even like Fisher but that would be a much better situation than going through a coaching search and being turned down by the likes of Patterson, Briles and Dantonio and having to settle for your fourth or fifth choice who might be great but also might turn the program into shambles. I like Tom Herman and lots of you like Fuentes but IMO neither one has made their bones in the big leagues yet. Fisher is already a made wise guy.
