If you are AD you stand pat for too long and allow the program to turn into shit. I commend the admin if they make the move now. It's a gamble, but it's always a gamble. It takes fire site to make a move now, here's hoping they choose a good replacement.
In the end it's very simple. This is the new normal. Even if Les gets all the players he wants in the spots we need with his current staff, 8-9 wins is the new ceiling. You'll have very good players with sub-par, tentative, stupidly predictable coaching. You'll have a thin roster of nominal NFL talent who knows they will not be competing for championships and will therefore bolt for the pros even if they're projected 4th round. As a result you'll have a chronic lack of senior leadership and a perpetually young team. Most of all, you will continue to have the same frustrations with what might have been, year after year. The choice is between that or a fresh start and a plunge into the unknown. Take your pick.
I've thought he was in over his head for years now but he's a good man who has run a clean program and as much as I'd like to see a better quality X and O's coach at LSU, I don't like to see a good man who is part of the community have to go through something like this. We can want to move in a new direction without savaging the man.
I agree with this. All the negativity surrounding the program is also probably gonna cost us our #1 ranked recruiting class.
