Because everyone knew the defense was going to be short handed and in transition. This was the one season out of many that Miles was finally supposed to carry the defense with an offense overflowing with talent. Even the player that should have won the Heisman couldn't carry the sack of shit Miles calls an offense. That made it twice as hard on an already thin D. Yes the D sucks, but it's the offense that has sucked for most of a decade. That's why the majority of the wailing is about the O.
Or takes personal blame for the loss, promises to fix the issues, and then brings the same result the following game, except this week it was a 38-21 loss instead of a 31-17 L or a 30-16 L.
I mean, to me it's just the refusal to believe that you are the problem. In his head his philosophy is sound. And maybe it is if you have an absolute stud at QB and a dominant offensive line. But he continues to try and put running quarterbacks with strong arms and not much between the ears at the most important position on the field. A guy who only can run a handful of plays. You don't really run the guy, which defeats the purpose of having a running QB, you don't give him a safety net of a check down or a tight end to throw the ball to, you rarely throw it to the backs, exception was today, don't know why it took 10 games to figure out if Fournette gets bottled up at the line because your stupid philosophy is burned and the O line can't block, maybe throwing it to him in space would be a good thing to do. I bet opposing coaches film prep for LSU is about as easy as any prep they have. I like Les but it's time, we are old and stale and the brand has been damaged. The bleeding must stop.
I dream of an offense where the QB reads the defense and calls audibles instead of staring at the sideline the entire time pre snap. How is a QB supposed to read a defense looking at the sideline, it just doesn't make sense.
Tonight in the red zone, inside the 5... after a time out... and our offense still finds a way to fuck it up, fumbles the ball and tutns it over on downs was the last straw. No more chances, no more free rides... Fire miles and bring in someone else. Even if LSU goes 0'fer the next 100 games, as long as LSU plays competitively i'll be happy.
A Heisman is good for the program. The best chance LSU has of winning a Heisman anytime soon is Fournette running the ball. That was happening and still could have happened with an uninjured offense. It won't happen in a transition year. I know some people think all we have to do is get rid of Miles and life will be great, but that is just ignorance. Its more likely we'll take a dip in the transition from one coach to another. The program is not burning dog shit rolling yada yada yada - that's just a rationalization you make up to fire Miles. But that is not the perception of people who know football around the nation.
The perception around the nation, if you listen to the pundits talk, is that LSU is a burning ship that's rapidly sinking. And even if LSU loses a few games in a transition period, I bet LSU is more competitive than what they've been.
Perception of LSU the last 3 games is exactly what many feared. we sorta suck regardless what all the football experts tell us. I dont need anyone to tell me what Im seeing or the state of the program at my university. They arent LSU fans nor invested up close and personal like we are. No one needs to justify firing Miles because its not our actual decision. He's almost certainly gone anyhow. The board wants him out. Alleva leaked it for a reason. No one thinks everything gets magically fixed either. Thats a lazy argument. They're simply hoping in the long run a change is best given the product we've seen on the field especially of late and the clearly downward trend of the team since 2012. This wasnt overnight. Fans venting dont really think theres a utopia. They simply want a divorce regardless if we find a perfect spouse later. But you should never settle. People are frustrated, Miles seems lost and so do the players. And other coaches and national media will always support keeping a coach. Thats what they do. But they dont pay the bills so they dont get a say. This is how it always happens when a long time coach is on his way out. Truth is, Miles' time at LSU is almost over. It was a good run. Blaming the fans for any of this is lazy as well. Fact is LSU made Les Miles by giving him the keys to a Bentley before he even had a Class A license. He can thank Nick Saban I suppose. One's proven to be a program builder and NC collector. And one had it all handed to him and let it slip right through.
