He apparently thinks we were overrated during both championship seasons. We only won by 25 last night because our QB sucks and our coaches are horrible. We handily beat Tulane by 25 last year because we were National Champs with 2 pretty good QBs and solid coaching.
Rooting for LSU no doubt but I think we are in trouble this game. I hope to God I'm wrong. I'd love to be wrong and send Saban whining back to Bama.
Just checking. I understand the thinking that saban is a "good" coach...but I have never understood this "great" coach title. The man had one "great" season here and hasn't repeated it since. He's having a "good" season so far this year...but there are still some games to be played. It could easily go from "good" to "mediocre" very quickly. On top of all of that the guy is a class "A" prick....always has been...even when he was here. I have never "liked" the guy but did "respect" him. Now I don't even respect him.
What people fail to realize is that Saban has had 1 good year in his entire coaching career. Of course that being in 2003. Didn't do "great" at MSU. Never had less than 3 losses in a season while at LSU, except for above mentioned only good year. We all know how the Dolphins gig turned out. Now, so far, he's having a good year at bama after a horrible first year. Funny thing is, if bama wins it all, Saban will be the first to admit that he won with Shula's players.
Don't understand the animosity towards Saban. Point one: Coaches are paid to win. That is how they are judged and rightly so....no one cares if he is likeable. You want a class act....apparently Ty Willingham is your man....(can't say for sure, I know nothing about him and am not interested enough to investigate it, but that is his rep.) Point two: Saban's teams were clearly well-coached. Special teams coverage for an easy example was never better than under Saban. We have been unable to duplicate that performance since. (I give full credit to Miles for installing "punt ugly"....great for running fakes.) Point three: Defense typically wins championships.....LSU's rise to national prominance was predicated by playing great defense.....LSU's achilles heel this year.....defense. Say what you will about Lee but the problem with LSU in its two losses was its inability to stop the opponent from scoring TOUCHDOWNS......I remember when we used expect the defense to actually give the offense the advantage of field position......anyone had that thought lately? Point four: Saban left LSU as one of the dominant programs in the entire country. We should thank him and I sincerely hope send him back to Alabama with a world class ass whipping. Point five: In regard to the ass whipping....does anybody think that is going to happen? Why not? Is it because of COACHING? :milesmic:
