You brought them up, not me. I only mentioned the 2 that Boston won. I've been a fan through the Mantle Maris, Guidry Jackson and Torre Rivera eras so I can think of more than 4 Yankee Championships. There were no Astros and Braves in my formative years. My Mom was a Cubs fan and my Dad was a Yankee fan. In my pre and early teens, I'd read about the Mantle and Maris exploits every day. I watched every game of the 1960 World Series. I was devastated when Mazeroski hit that walk off in game 7. I agonized when Koufax and Drysdale led the Dodgers to a 4 game sweep. I listened to or watched every game that Ron Guidry pitched. I'm not a front runner. I suffered through lean Yankees seasons from 63 to 76. I earned my Yankee fan card and I show it proudly.

PS: I also have an autographed picture of Moose Skowron.

    not a frontrunner?!!?
choice between Cubs and Yankees and you hop on the wagon of a team that just won 7 of the previous 10 WS?

heck when I hopped on Boston's wagon, they had been 80+years since winning one.

Cubs were not an option. I was 9 when I started pulling for the Yankees. They were on TV just about every Saturday (Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee Reese) and I was enthralled with Mickey Mantle. I had no idea what their history was. In '58 the Milwaukee Braves won the WS and in 59 it was the White Sox. In 60 it was the Pirates. I had been a fan for 4 years before they won a Series.

Very true. Not only do they spend it. Hell, the Cubs and the Red Sox spend it too. The Yankees spend it wisely. George Steinbrenner is fr from being the ricchest owner in MLB

In 14 years, Ron Guidry was 170-91 (.651), ERA of 3.29 with 95 complete, games, 26 shutouts and 1,778 stikeouts.

In 1978 he was 25-3 with a 1.74 ERA, 16 complete games, 9 shutouts and 248 Ks...arguably the best season ever. He beat Boston in a 1 game playoff for the AL East title and won game 4 (the clincher) of the ALCS going 8 innings giving up 1 run against the Royals.
He beat the Dodgers 5-1 in game 3 of the WS with a complete game 8 hitter

He won the 78 Cy Young award and barely lost the MVP to Jim Rice whose year at the plate equalled what Guidry did on the mound.

Yeah, I'll take that autographed baseball.

Since George Steinbrenner has owned the Yankees they have won 6 World Series> How many have those Cubs whose games you haven't missed since World War I won?
