Cry me a phucquin river. First off, teams like Florida, San Diego and Kansas City should be AAA. They want to play with the big boys but they don't bring the guns. There ain't an owner in baseball who doesn't have the bucks to shell out for high priced free agents. If the big market teams get more in revenue from TV, etc. too bad. That's just the way it is. But wait. The Golden Boy is a White Sox fan. It won't be long before our taxes are supporting the have nots in the MLB too.
are you sure about that? there have been more different teams make it to the World Series than either the Super Bowl or NBA finals since 200. only one team has won multiple World Series titles (Boston - 2) than Super Bowl or NBA titles since 2000. there have been fewer MLB teams make multiple World Series trips than teams going to multiple Super Bowls or NBA finals since 2000. Since 2000 no MLB trip has made more than 3 appearances, unlike in the NBA where where 2 different teams have 3 titles or more, and the NFL that has a 4 time participant with 3 titles. there are NO baseball teams with 3 or more titles since 2000. 1 in the NFL, and 2 in the NBA. MLB has crowned more different champs than either the NFL or NBA since 2000.
As far as baseball goes the only 2 teams that do not have an unreal payroll that i can remember winning the world series or competing were Florida, and the Rays last year. Arizona won a championship but they had Johnson, Schilling, Gonzales, etc etc, so their payroll was pretty high. To be honest, i hate they Yankees. And i am sick of players that i like selling their souls to go play for them. How is it even remotely fair, when you offer someone a huge contract, then the Yankees come along and offer twice that. There should be a level playing field. Its got nothing to do with the markets, it has to do with fans. It would really help out some of these cities if their teams could compete. To me, it makes the game a little dumb. Why even have a team in Pittsburgh, or Kansas City if the owners do not have Steinbrenner money. I have always thought there should be a salary cap in baseball.
you might wanna scratch Florida off that list. 2 since '97. still havent decided if their ownership is lucky or good.
and even now florida is just a couple games out. florida is a good team, they deserve a better town, with actual fans.
Id have to agree with Martin, I have been to Marlins game and nobody really goes consistently, including me. But it takes me an hour to get to the ballpark. But its so much to do other than sports in Miami, people just dont buy season tickets unless its the Dolphins.
