Imagine some of these clowns posts if we would have had a forum in the dark ages, otherwise known as the early 90's. :helmet:

Deceks, you're right. Cholly Mac is LSU. And, except for the ridiuclous point by the thread starter (he doesn't deserve name recognition), I think most kids who do post here are too young to remember him. They only know what they've heard and what some of us old timers have told them.

But did he go undefeated every season? No! So he wasn't not good enough to coach LSU. This is SEC football, dammit! Absolute perfection and no losses every year is a very reasonable goal, especially in this creampuff conference. Why can't Miles do this? Lots and lots of other coaches are going undefeated! You have all lowered your expectations too much. 2 loss season? Pfft. Miles is a phoney! Burnnnn himmmmm!

I wonder if the people calling for Miles to be fired realize how foolish they sound. My guess is no.

In Saban's first year we beat #11 Tennessee, #13 Mississippi St. and #15 Georgia Tech. We were only ranked at one point that year.

It doesn't seem unreasonable to say that you feel uncertain about this team. We have not proven to be a team worthy of fear. You guys make it sound like there are people left and right calling for Miles' head. The majority of the "bashers" are simply disappointed in our inability to show up in big games. We've put no "name" opponents away this season and we were dominant in only one "name" game last season. Sure, we were in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, but we were also in the midst of a power void in the SEC.

Most are willing to give Miles time, and those having concern for the state of our program shouldn't be hawked and scorned by all the people who just want to forget about it. Of course voicing our opinions isn't going to make the Tigers focus harder or earn us a position on Miles' coaching staff, but if we enjoy discussing our concerns, why do so many feel the need to balk at that?

    AND....LOST to lowly UAB!

Funny how that always gets left out...what, Saban couldn't get the team ready for the not-big games?

In Miles' first year we beat #4 Bama, #9 Miami, #11 Florida, #15 ASU, and #16 Auburn. And two real hurricanes on top of that.

We could go on forever with this debate, but someone would look foolish...

And after that he turned the season around. We got a Peach Bowl victory after two losing seasons and nearly a decade of crap football. I left out UAB because it wasn't relevant to the point. I didn't forget that loss or others that were disappointing during Saban's tenure, but Saban did more for the program than can be reflected in the W/L column. That you guys find that irrelevant so soon after the fact is really difficult to fathom. Talk about a lack of perspective...

Miles' accomplishments outside of the W/L column are not as impressive YET. He deserves time, and I think 90% realize that. He got us through the hurricane without allowing the team to fall apart and he is a good guy. But he hasn't returned the confidence to our program that we can win, we can beat the other guy. Some of that confidence is left over from Saban's time here, but if we can't notch some impressive wins this season it will erode.

I was bitching when Saban was here and I'll bitch after Miles leaves. That doesn't equal calling for the guy's head. Most are some degree of that and aren't extremists that want Miles fired. Stop overreacting.

The difference? Saban was coming out of the Dark Ages... Now, was Saban perfect? Nope. Never said he was. Should Miles be fired? Never said he should. I just want to say I don't feel confident that we will look impressive against solid competition. Miles has done that once so far (twice including the Auburn loss), and the solidity of Miami is diminishing by the day. I'm not saying he can't, but I think it is pretty logical to say that until it happens I won't be confident that it will. How that translates into "FIRE MILES.... NOW!!! is beyond me.

I think the issue is alot of bashers are of the "fire les now" mentality. Some of your posts have been interpreted to mean you are in that group(not saying that you actually are).

Some of us wonder: Why continue to bash before he has had a chance to prove himself?...or stumble for that matter?

No one has said that Miles is coach perfection, but he does deserve a fair shot to see what he CAN accomplish! I'll support him until he proves otherwise...instead of bashing him relentlessly as some here are doing.
