    Lots of Good

Burrow. When's the last time we've had a QB thinking ahead. He was key. Not waiting on the sideline to tell him what to do. Actually in the game. Much less in their first start. Maybe Hodson. Not even flynn.

Checked down to brossette on the 50 yd run for a TD.

Had 2 quick snaps that drew a penalty on tha u.

He has poise/awareness. Can't really be taught in pressure situations.

Made some good reads but was behind on a couple slants was the most egregious I recall. Good example where the box score doesnt tell you the story.

Grant Delpit - all over the field making plays. Impressive.

Devin white - good game but not what I expected based on his own high bar set. I demand more. much more.

Dbs - good to see man to man defense esp late.

Brossette - left little doubt who the man is. From his early run called back on a bogus holding to the last drive. He was quick on the first read hit the hole and made big gains. Did it to start the 2h as well when the others kept getting stuffed. Ran hard. Major ups to 4. Ecstatic he got his time to shine after waiting 4 years. More to come.

Jefferson was open all night. Shows flashes but as with every Jefferson he must leave doubt. Dropped balls. Long strides with really good game speed and ability to leave defender easily. Potential to be next level if he can catch. Why am I talking like a scout. He and Chase look to be play makers.

Phillips all over the field like 9. In the qbs face had a pick 6. Nothing much to dislike here.

KLC-4 - great athlete. Gotta make more plays but disruptive. Hope his knee is not serious.

91 and 90 anchored the front line well minus a few plays off. 91 got his sack late.

Cole Tracy - great first game from the cool cali kid. But I never trust a kicker. Wouldnt shock me if he missed every kick from here out. Its not personal.

Punting - ZVR killed it while Josh Growden did what he needed.

    Bad -

Offensive line looked slow out of stance. Outside rush beat them regularly often one missed assignment blew up the play. They have potential but the injury looms. Run blocking wasnt good either.

CEH - I was afraid of this. We better hope nick can carry us.

Over-pursuit on d all night. We gotta make the play. Game 1 hyped up so I get it. But you have to contain. gotta be disciplined.

    Ugly-

Timeouts. If this continues it will cost us one sec game minimum. Ill write it off to new OC, green qb and game one jitters.

Redzone - not good but im not worried. We are going to be a force once we find our identity.

Injuries. 2 knees. Im worried about both. Magee looks done let's hope KLC escapes.

All in all much happier than I anticipated. Excellent talent all around. Defense will improve. Offense showed flashes. Special teams and Joe Burrow were the difference makers imo.

This miami d and o-line are good. This is an excellent win. No one gave us much hope. Enjoy it. I'm really excited to see this team develop.

Good: Nick had a breakout game and LSU has their next feature back (so the talking heads can shut the fuck up), our front 7 was disruptive as hell and stayed in Miami’s backfield all night! Burrow was making good decisions and throwing darts! Kid is going to be really good. Rush defense looks terrifying for opponents. Pass rush Forced 2 interceptions (one that was a house call). 4 for 4 of FG including 54 yarder.

Bad: Lots of dropped passes, settled for
FG’s in the 2nd half on some 1st & goal opportunities to put our foots on their throat. Lots of missed sacks in Miami’s backfield due to over pursuit, youth in the secondary gave up some big plays and allowed Miami 2 garbage time TD’s. Play calling got extremely vanilla and “not the lose” in the 2nd half (no TD’s).

Ugly: 2 key injuries that could hurt pretty bad. Have to get better on the penalties and hold on to the damn ball! Both Anderson and Jefferson were both lucky on 2 fumbles. 3 of 16 on 3rd down. I’ll also add drops here again! Burrow put some balls on the money and we dropped way too many, that would have improved his numbers drastically and put us in position to score more points.

With all that said, I’m fucking stoked and crazy proud of this team!

@tirk re: the timeouts. We wasted all 3 in the first half but didn't seem to have any issues (getting play in on offense, subs on defense) in the second.

If they saved a penalty, were they wasted? Asking for Sabanfan.

The Good- We got the W. It was a much needed win to get the season started on a positive note. Hopefully, something the team can learn from and grow. Burrow was very poised, he looks like a leader. He didn't try to force plays. He shows enough mobility as well. Jefferson looks like a future star at WR. While the numbers weren't staggering like some games, White showed he's a sure tackler and flew to the ball. Overall, a strong defensive performance.

The Bad- That was a very poor performance for such a one sided game. The LSU OL can't sustain their blocks. We don't get those much needed, consistent 3-5 yard carries. It was either for nothing or a long run. The WR's have to catch the damn ball, these drops are ridiculous. While the D was pretty impressive, there were too many missed tackles.

The Ugly- The drive killing penalties. While there weren't too many penalties, they were crucial, boneheaded mistakes. Calling all 3 TO's in the first quarter is unacceptable. We need better preparation.

True but this is a conditioned response. Let me know when it's not an issue.

Well you will understand timeouts are for the end of halves if you expect to win close games. In fact, taking the penalty is often the better choice.

Most of that was their starters versus our backups. They did put our starters back in, attempting to preserve the TD shutout, but the yards that got them down there were against our 2nd/3rd stringers. The 2nd TD was just a helluva catch from a true frosh against a true frosh.

One of those was against Kristian Fulton. Gotta give homeboy a pass since it was his first game in 2 years. He'll tighten up. When he gets up to speed, we'll have him on one side, Greedy on the other, with Battle and Delpit over the top; not too shabby for DBU.

Right.. I'm not too concerned about that at this point. They prevented penalties and/or negative yardage plays. Plus, it looks like they adjusted and fixed it. Much more concern if it happened in the 2nd half.

@tirk You remember last year when coach O opted for the FG on a short 4th and goal?

What did you think of his "Fuck it. Go for it"?

Cleaned it up in the second half and only used one TO and that west due to a fuckup.
