Good first game, Defense looked good except late. I liked the play calling between the 20’s. Burrow looks like a heady dude, I hope he and our receivers can get a ton of reps before Auburn. No turnovers, always a plus. Nick Brossette, hell of game. Red zone offense wasn’t very good but I’ll give em a pass for now. Offense overall was very spotty. Looked good at times, looked bad at times, how will LSU look when the other team isn’t bailing them out with stupid penalties on 3rd down to keep drives alive.
I think the previous posts have summed things up pretty well. I think the Tigers gave great effort and maintained their cool in a tough atmosphere against a pretty good team. We have a lot to improve but we have another game to work on the oline which seems to be in great need. It’s also usual that a team makes great improvement between the first and second game. I hope so we need it. However based on what I saw we have a lot to look forward to this year.
I think if you take into consideration we lost Ingram, we lost Magee early, we start a new center, have virtually all new running backs and receivers and a transfer qb that hasn’t been with the team very long. It’s easy for me them to give a pass after this week considering all that has transpired and they did look really good at times.
Yeah I doubt they went too deep cause we had a comfortable lead for much of the game. Ogeron did say the offense was all in though. I was hoping to see MB take a few snaps but their late push made it just too close to chance.
good: credit ed and staff for having this team ready to play at 1st snap special teams: 6 consecutive kickoffs in the end zone, cole tracy looks like the real deal and will take pressure off ensminger almost had a blocked punt, 0 punt return yds given....special teams win games and the Tigers look light years ahead from last year D: lights out...except...still not sure what was going on defensively with the 2 consecutive passes rosier hit on early...Will have to watch again fat: this isn't hs anymore and almost everyone has physical skill. didn't like his technique early but I acknowledge that's like finding a 20 and bitching because I didn't find a 50.. I thought Alexander was going to get a taunting flag. This d has a chance to be really special and was glad we had a jacoby sighting in a meaningful situation. Ensminger: although we went into the fetal position early you felt like there were plays to be had if he wanted to open up. Miami has players too and a pretty stout d although the db loss early hurt them. brosette: redemption? Good for him. Looked fresh and grew more confident as the game went on. Looked like he belongs. still runs too upright for me. O line: better than expected and settled in nicely. Miami is stout upfront burrow: will forever be cast as the gutsy white kid who's plucky, etc....jefferson looks to be his favorite receiver bad: early penalties that feeling you got when Miami scored that 2nd td Ugly: 3 timeouts all in all we couldn't ask for better. congrats to ed and staff
I knew there would be timeout comments. My take is that the coach made good use of his timeouts. They don't carry over like cell phone minutes.
Offensive line has to be the biggest concern for me. We did play a pretty good defensive team though. There are NFL players on that defense we faced, in the front 7 and in the defensive backfield, so maybe it’s not as bad as it looked, but they are going to really be tested when we travel to Auburn.
One thing I noticed was no check downs to RBs or TEs, their D kept a lot of pressure on Burrow which I thought would have negated that some what. P.S. Special teams look to be, we'll, special.
