The Good 1. Defensive Backs - as intimated last week Greedy Williams won't be taken off the field and Mr Tolliver may be looking for a position. DJackson could be the odd man out. 2. Wide Receivers - really good effort from this young group. Go get the deep ball. That's been missing recently namely malachi dupre. Sullivan, gage, drake and chark all showed up. I'll forgive the 2 big drops this time. 3. Corey Thompson, KLC and Devin White. Gotta like how these guys play. 4. Dj chark - had himself a game. 2 long receptions and 2 punt returns for touchdowns minus one. Looked a little like another number 7 finding the end zone. 5. No injuries and another W. Bad 1. Generally sloppy play all around. Can't get focused for a bye week. Expected but need better effort especially on both lines. 2.. Ok I lied. The drops pissed me off. Especially the TD Brennan threw on the money to stevens that ended up not being a TD. Gotta make the big catches. 3. D-line depth. Need Lawrence and Key back. Lacouture needs to earn his keep. Ugly 1. Penalties. 10 in the first half. Everyone got involved. 2nd half only 1. So again corrected at halftime at least. 2. Kickers - suck. Culp nails a 47 yarder yet still comes up short doesn't instill confidence. Gonsoulin misses a 40 yarder. Thought I was watching a nick saban coached team.
The first game D Jackson smothered the BYU receivers and they were afraid to challenge him. Was not able to watch last night. Was he burned?
Donte has been on point all season like much of last season. No reason to bench him now for a jackass that couldn't stay out of trouble.
It was nice to see some downfield passing. Of course that downfield passing was against inferior talent and size, so I am taking that with a big grain of salt. The timing was off on a few of the deep balls and even though the WR had his man beat, and sometimes more than one of them, by the time the ball got there it was a jump ball situation. That might work some of the time, but when you throw into double coverage, like we seem to, that is going to come back to bite us.
Good - We didn't get called for targeting Bad - We allowed 10 points Ugly - Guice's celebration flag was horseshit
Close call. No ejection but still cost 15 yards Acceptable for a game like this but I didn't like that we let them move the chains on their firsr possession.
