Am I mistaken? I don't think LSU has ever lost to MSU by 30 points or more. Going all the way back to the 19 aughts.
I heard this was our worst loss to MooU ever. Probably also one of their best teams ever. MooU and LSU have a long history; MooU has that with a bunch of schools.
Thankfully, I only got to watch bits and pieces of the game, but the offensive possessions I did get to see were a lot of 1 back sets. Is that our featured set now? If so, no wonder we can't run the ball. Canada needs to be made aware of who JD Moore is and how valuable he is as a lead blocker.
Jesus dude. I know last night was bad but you are seriously doom and gloom. I don't see anything from Auburn, Ole Miss, A&M or Arkansas that put them so far above LSU that you do. And I'm just a casual fan, you make a living doing this? What about Auburn has you so impressed? They struggled with Mercer at home. Ill agree they have a better D-Line, but ours will heal up and improve too. I've been pretty vocal about my displeasure with Coach O and this season so far, but we have a ton of talent and some good coaches. What we saw last night was a snowball game. This Tiger team will get better as the year goes on. It's inevitable. You're acting like we peaked already and last night is what we'll see the rest of the year. I also don't think you're giving Mississippi State enough credit. Where is your logic?
Maybe I should have been more clear. There was nobody on Alleva's list when he missed on Herman and Jimbo. I sure as shit would have taken quite a few other names but we never even got a chance to talk about them as fans because O was hired 8 hours after Herman said he was meeting with UT. Most of us were still digesting our turkey.
The point is which coach could they have hired, including Jimbo and Herman who could have found an immediately fix for the lack of depth on both sides of the line. Even Bill Belichick wouldn't have been able to bring up some low round draft picks that he had gotten through shrewd trades. I doubt that there is a coach who ever lived who would have won last night's game.
I can't argue with our youth and lack of depth especially on both lines but the bulk of my displeasure with Coach O right now has to do with how unprepared and uninspired we played. More so that through 6 months of offseason we couldn't install an offense that looks any different than what we had. I'll do some research if need be but I promise you there are 1st year coaches all over college football that got their offenses installed in the offseason and are executing at a much higher level through 3 weeks. You can bet that Belichick sure as shit would have a gameplan in place to work around our youth and lack of depth as well. But Comparing Bill Belichick to Ed Orgeron??? Really? Do we have go there?
Just sayin'. OK, How would Jimbo Fisher or Tom Herman have shored up our deficiencies on the O and D lines?
They would have have a quick hitting offense to get rid of the ball into a playmakers hands to counter the over pursuit of the defense. As would many high school coaches. I'm guessing they wouldn't run the halfback into the teeth of the defense repeatedly. Even Les miles had the sense to use a fullback and a tight end or 3. Outmanned teams do this successfully against superior teams each week. That's why college football is so exciting. Unless you have idiots running the show who shit the bed as bad as their team.
