I would add that the zone read is a positive for LSU. In fact, Harris runs it well minus 1 or 2 bad reads.
Exactly. I'm still trying to figure out how a walk on true freshman QB can be as effective as he was against an SEC defense in his first start, and yet we struggle mightily against weaker opposition. We're not expecting him to be Mett back there. All we're asking for is to have a passing game that keep teams honest, so that they're not stacking 8-9 or even 10 (like last night) dudes in the box to stop the run. If we did, I can't help but think that #7 might even have a legitimate shot at breaking Barry Sanders' single season rushing record.
Dude you seem so angry. If you have lived with LSU over the last 50+ years and understand that the closest we've been to such a run of prominence and success is a 5-6 year period in the late 50s to early 60s you might appreciate the last 13 or so. Does appreciation mean we don't want the team to do better or we think isn't room for improvement? Of course not. However harping on the negative gets you nowhere. Do you think Les is reading your posts and saying "Dang why didn't I think of that"? As far as your claim that no one is calling for Les's head in this moment harken back to after the bowl game. The calls for his head are about one loss away. I doubt you will listen in your self righteous anger but ask yourself how you enjoyed the Archer/Hallman/Dinardo years. Ask Texas and Tennessee how they like things now. Take a pill and relax; enjoy what we have. Feel free to criticize but do so in context.
Hell if we can't throw we need to run that more as sad as it is to say and as much as the read option pains me to watch. Alabama has a tough time defending it. You can bet, Harris will be able to pull and gain yards on the Gumps because they will all crash on 7.
I couldn't agree more. Why are we throwing the ball to #83? He's not fighting for the ball. One would think, if you're getting 2 or 3 balls thrown your way THE WHOLE GAME, that you'd do everything you could to catch said balls. Quit blaming the QB. Les sees the drops too. Leonard left gets us 8 yards. A passing attempt to Dural ends up being a loss of down. Keep pounding the rock until somebody stops it.
Maybe not these posts in particular, but some media/fan scrutiny? It's highly f'ing possible. He thinks Louisiana State Troopers have answers on football game scenarios . Hell maybe they're the real offensive play callers.
This is a great explanation. Of course, I suppose I'm a sunshine pumper, but I couldn't agree with you more. I remember truly bad performances. Over the summer, the SEC Network replayed the '88 Earthquake Game. While watching it, I was astounded at how bad our offense was--yet the QB was Tommy Hodson, proclaimed by many to be one of best (and statistically, he was); however, there was even a Mickey Guidry sighting thrown in late in the game. All of that is to say that the level of football we are currently playing, and have been playing since '03 is heaps better than any other time in my 45 years.
Are you still beating THAT dead horse? He was asking the Troopers why the hell it appeared the EMU coach called a time out as we were running out the clock. Since the troopers are with him at every game (and have been for years), they were probably having a chuckle at that.
I think he was probably referencing a year or two ago when he looked at the trooper and asked him if WE had a timeout.
