The pumpers can be an angry, bitter and hateful group at times. There has been plenty of both good and bad so far this season. The good has been really good and the bad pretty bad at times. Still the team is undefeated and shows tons of potential to be great. The pumpers chose to ignore the bad, thinking if they don't acknowledge it then it doesn't exist. The realist realize that if some weak areas aren't strengthened the season won't reach its full potential.

No one is downplaying how great it is to be undefeated, highly ranked and having #7. With some improvement in a couple areas this team is a championship contender. Without that improvement 4 losses is a strong possibility. So far this has been a great, fun, exciting yet at times frustrating season. Pointing out the good is not a bad thing. Pointing out the bad is also not a bad thing. Pointing out one or the other while ignoring that the other exists is just plain stupid.

The thing about the passing game though is if our receivers just pull balls in and secure them, the passing game would be good enough to back defendes off a little bit. Add in Harris' ability to scramble and the offense could be very dangerous. I'd like to see more designed passing plays that move the pocket or let Harris throw on the run. As stated before by many the passing game woes are fixable, it's the defense that is troublesome. LSU desperately needs Jalen Mills back simply because we play a lot of nickel due to the fact that Jones and Beckwith are the only 2 linebackers worth a squirrel fart. Dewayne Thomas is good when he rushes the passer or when he has to make a tackle, he is disruptive in those areas but he isn't very good covering. That's where Mills steps in and really solidifies the back end of this defense.

Against some of the better defenses we will face, just chunking it downfield hoping a WR is going to come up with it isn't going to get it done. The passing game will have to be more evolved than that. Plus WRs are going to have to start catching the damn ball and the pass blocking will need to improve.

Agreed, the underneath stuff is there, on the rewatch several underneath guys were open but Harris chose to chuck it deep. He needs to settle down, take what the defense gives him and the receivers need to catch and LSU will roll.....if the defense can stop the opponents.

I wonder if part of that are the coaches telling him to focus more on deep passes because it's a "safer" pass than going over the middle.

i think this is why im more optimistic with this team than past ones. I think with a few adjustments this team could compete with anyone. Luckily, nothing is static and teams evolve. If this team matures and takes to the coaches teachings Im going to be crazy optimistic for this and next years team especially. I think we are a lot closer than most think. And I assume we'll fix the dline depth next year as well which will be scary if #7 gets a stout d to support him. But we can still manage around it for the time being and make a run.

That's the kicker though. I don't see the defense being any better next year. We probably lose Tre White and Beckwith, Jones and Mills are gone as well. Luckily the whole defensive line will be back. But that hole at linebacker is going to be glaring, Tolliver, Thomas, Adams, and Jefferson will be back, and hopefully Ed Paris will get better.

i think you are correct. we all agree with the things that need fixing. we all see it. even red sees it. its your approach that needs a little work methinks. see, i joke about miles but its mostly all in fun. your tenor seems to be that you'd like to murder miles and his family at least every saturday.

but to be honest, i enjoy yalls banter. its the yin and the yang.
